Anybody have there GPS die completely? I am an advanced user, I have tried all the normal fixes, including factory reset through recovery. GPS status app doesn't see a single satellite after an hour. In fact every GPS market app can't find a satellite. I can access the "secret menu" through the dial pad but get a force close when I try to enter GPS settings. Can the hardware itself fail?
Phone is perfect otherwise. Thanks for any input.

I take it by your comments that it was working before? Has there been any apps or updates that you have installed? What GPS services are you using? I do not use the VZW location services, and if I use just the Google Services, it works sometimes, and others it does not, but when I use both Google and Standalone services, it seems to work 99% of the time.

Try downloading and installing 'MapQuest' from the Market.
I dont know why, but whenever my GPS quits working ( i typically use google maps, navigation and gps toolbox/status )
I do the following:
- turn phone off
- turn phone on
- turn on google location services and GPS location services
- start mapquest
- allow to run a couple minutes
- mapquest finds my location and displays it
- quit out of mapquest
- start another GPS app.. that app now appears to work OK.
My hunch is that the mapquest programmers seem to know more about the
workings of the GPS than other app developers.
No guarantee. But the above works fairly reliably for me on all 3 of my Fascinates.
go figure : - )

at home my network extender never losses GPS signal, but my phone has troubles locking.

My GPS (stand alone, and Google) worked fine until Saturday. It went out during a trip, causing many wrong turns.
Is there a fix for this?

scottsfd, I have the exact same problem as you ever since I did the OTA Gingerbread update. My phone was just fantastic when it was on FroYo. The GPS was excellent and locked in extremely quickly (under a minute). My battery life was really good too (24 - 30 hrs with average use). Now my GPS does not work at all and my battery life is worse.
Can you tell me how you accessed the hidden menu via dialpad? I'd like to see what happens when I try it. I used to be able to access this when my Fascinate was on Eclair but ever since FroYo, it has not been accessible.
One last thing, are you based in MA? I am in the Boston area and am wondering if, by any chance, people with this issue are in the same geographic area. I remember some issue some time back where people in NY state were having issues with their GPS and Maps. Yes, I'm clutching at straws with this.
