Galaxy S3 always plays sound when keyboard touched

Received the latest software update this morning.  Since then whenever using the keyboard a sound plays.  Option is turned off.  Turned off haptic feedback.  Turned keyboard sound back on, then off.  turned haptic feed back back on.  No matter the settings sound plays.  Very annoying.  No problem prior to the update.

Not sure, but I have a similar problem--even with sound and haptic turned off in both the Settings-->Sound and the Power Saving options, my keyboard still has haptic feedback which is really irritating.  I want to know how to turn the haptic feedback off.

same issue here.  I don't mind a little haptic, but can't stand the constant keyboard clatter

None of you mentioned which keyboard you are using, but all of the keyboards that I'm familiar with have their own Settings menu that is separate from the phone's Settings menu.  There is an option that enables/disables the sounds for keypresses.  Have you all tried that?

I have spoken with Verizon.  It is a known issue within the device operating system.  Samsung has been notified of the problem and is working on it.

I had the same problem when I got the update, but with haptic feedback rather than sound.  I followed 21stNow's advice (thank you!) and was able to control it as follows:

Settings -> Language and Input (under the "Personal" heading) -> ["settings" icon next to "Samsung Keyboard" ] -> Advanced -> Key-tap vibration (checkbox)

That turned off haptic feedback for me, and there's a checkbox for "Key-tap sound" right below it that will hopefully turn off sound for you.

I applied the same fix - went to Samsung Keyboard and turned off sound there.  It worked.

Good!  It seems like the settings went back to default after the OS update.  I hope that any others that don't like the change can find the solution here.

For some reason I'm not having that issue with my keyboard (luckily!), but two of my friends are. (We've all done the latest update) When I go to their settings, like you suggested, there are check boxes, but it does not allow me to uncheck them. I hope Samsung fixes the bugs in their update.

That didn't work for me, but it did make me realize that I'm sometimes using swipe.  So, going into settings -> language and input -> and then pressing the settings image (far right) of EACH of these: google voice typing, samsung keyboard, AND Swype (look under Preferences while in swype), I was able to get that noise to stop every time I touched the keyboard.  Finally!  Note that the difference was I was previously only changing the settings in google voice and samsung keyboard, and it quit only when I ALSO changed the swype settings to turn off the noise.

Good thinking, JDAtx!   EVERYONE READING THIS:  Be sure to do as JDAtx suggested by going to SETTINGS > LANGUAGE and INPUT > (and then click on the GEAR icon of the check marked [X] keyboard option you are using.  I have five options listed, but the highlighted and checked option for me was SlideITDemo Keyboard.  From there...) > LOOK & FEEL > SOUND on KEYPRESS  - Thank goodness!  That clicking noise was driving me crazy!

I think it's already been said but the GEAR next to each keyboard still works even though the keyboard name is grayed out. Nice work on the UI, Samsung.
