Galaxy S5 Bluetooth Issue

I have a very annoying problem with the bluetooth to my car hands free system. I have a 2013 Dodge Challenger- Uconnect Res 130. The issue I am facing is specific to making a call. Shortly after the call is made, the audio drops and I am forced to use the speaker from the phone. I know it is not the system from my car because I had a Note 1 and it worked flawlessly for almost a year until I got the S5.
I've done everything from a factory reset to unpairing and pairing the phone. When I asked a store associate at the Verizon store, the guy said to wait until 4.4.4 KitKat is released. I did the software update today, and the same exact problem still exists.
When I get the prompts for asking to sync to messages, history, contacts, etc., I've tried No, Yes, and Yes with don't ask again. I've also tried checking only phone audio, unchecking media, and checking both boxes- making calls still drops audio.
This problem happens 99% of the time. The only time it works is if I make a call within a minute of connecting my phone to the car. The first call I make will work fine, then all subsequent calls will drop audio.
I need to know if this is a hardware or software issue with the phone, and how I can resolve it.
Regards,
Vinson

Vinson.Kho,
Help has arrived! I'm sorry to hear about the issues you are experiencing with your Bluetooth connection. Aside from you car, do you use the Bluetooth connection on your device for any other accessories? If so, does the same issue occur?
Have you had the opportunity to take your car to the dealership to evaluate the connection and rule out the possibility of it being your cars Bluetooth connection?

Dealer aid they cannot find any issues. They used an iPhone to test, and it worked fine.
Streaming with Bluetooth to a wireless soaker wields just fine.
The only issue I have is making outgoing calls.

S5 is supported. Also, I stumbled on a mini - fix: if I turn off the phone display after I make a call from my car system, the call is broadcasted via Bluetooth without dropping audio.
I shouldn't have to do this, as this defeats the purpose of a hands free system.

Hey I am also expercing similar issues after switching from a s3 to aVerizon galaxy s5. I've had my dodge truck 3 years with no issues prior to switching phones. At first I thought I must have been bumping the bluetooth area of the call screen so I changed the way I would store the phone wile driving so it was impossible that the screen was getting touched while in call but the issue persists.
Eventually I started bypassing bluetooth to use the phone speaker but it also seems to revert back to the "face mode" mid call.
I don't think the cars are at fault here. And my wife's iphone continues to function on Bluetooth calls so it seems like the S5 is the issue.
Any resolution is welcome once it is figured out.

I've had the same issue. I have a 2014 Nissan Altima, I got the phone in May of 2014 and it worked perfectly, connected to my car perfectly, everything synced- again- perfectly.
Did the S5 Updated (Sept 17) and since then- nothing works perfectly. I can connect to the car BUT Here are the issues:
1.) If I choose to let the car access my phonebook/messages I CANT make calls @using the car's bluetooth OR using the device. If someone calls it rings ONLY on the phone, when I answer it DOESN'T connect via phone or car. SOMETIMES it will ring through the car and show the name, if I answer it doesn't connect.
2.) If I choose not to let the car access phonebook/messages I CAN make calls using the option to SAY the phone number. If someone calls it rings and ONLY shows the phone number.
Isn't the point of bluetooth to be able to say "Call Scott" and it dials? To be able to see "Scott" is calling me? This has actually made driving more dangerous than it needs to be. This isn't something that we should just let go, considering that it was working before the update.
Are you guys planning a new update? Like this week?
I called customer care, we unpair, re paired, it worked. I got out of the car, got back in the car, DOESN'T work.
And to help answer some the questions we you may have, yes, I have unpaired, re paired; turned off phone took out battery; checked with Nissan and with dealer (either way it was working PERFECTLY before the update).
What is your recommendation? THANKS SO MUCH for any help you can provide!

This is really good information to know, Kavz. Out of curiosity, have you tried pairing it with a different bluetooth device to see what happens?

I have not, as the same device has ALWAYS worked PERFECTLY until this
update, which I did on 9/17/14.

The update is meant to improve your overall experience, Kavz. I regret this doesn't appear to be the case. The update does change the functionality of the device in some ways, and there may be compatibility issues with 3rd party Bluetooth systems that don't yet support an updated operating system. When you checked with Nisson, did they happen to say if they have tested the compatibility with the 4.4.4 version? Do they have an updated software for your Bluetooth system to improve connections with newer operating systems?

I also have a Nissan Altima 2014 and the bluetooth worked great with my S5 until I got the update on 9/16. Ever since the update I can dail out. The bluetooth audio streaming works but I cannot receive or make calls. I also have a work phone which is a iPhone 5 and I'm able to use my cars hands free calling features with it.
Ever since the Samsung S5 got the update it stopped working with the hands free calling system on my Altima and I'm force to use the speaker phone . Is there any way to role back the update? Everything was fine before I applied the update. I should have followed the old saying, "If it isn't broken, don't fix it."

First, I would unpair/forget the pairing and repair.
Second, I suppose you might try to selectively clear the low-level cache of the device. I think this has been posted elsewhere.... the procedure on doing so.
Third - back up all your content and prepare to wipe the device with a Factory Data Reset.

LongtimeCustomer,
Hope you love your car as much as I love mine!
I've been researching and trying to fix it and I found a solution. I think.
Unpair and repair device... when it prompts to "Allow my car to access call
history and phonebook" check yes and do not ask again.
When it promptd to "Allow my car to access messages" check no and do not
ask again.
This should work! It did for me. Good luck x
