OK... Just upgraded Fascinate number 3 OTA to EH03, Gingerbread.
No problems encountered.
Again, had ED05 on it prior to upgrade.

Herbb, are you and everyone else who has a Fascinate able to pull down the OTA manually by checking on the phone for updates? The Charge has a new software update to Gingerbread which began rolling out on the 23rd and I still have not seen a pop up and I am not able to pull it down manually OTA. I wonder why the Fascinate is allowed to pull it from their servers and why the Charge is not able to pull it manually? Anyways, how do you like the new software? Does the phone run better? Hopefully with this it fixes that missed calls/text messages for good!

Build is 2.3.5.
Yes, I went to Menu...Setting... 'about phone' ...system updates..Check New.. Took about 10 seconds
and then the 'blue' update avail screen came up. I said OK..
Phones seem 'snappier' to me. Some minor changes in looks and menus. All three making and getting calls,
sending and receiving texts.... BUT... Only been today. Time will tell how good GB is on the fascinate, but so
far, me , wife and kid are very happy with the update.

I just finished the upgrade, other than the difference in the icons at the top...visually the phone appears the same.
I did notice that I can get three bars now on 3G in the house where as I have only gotten one bar in the past. What other differences are there?

The difference the ram is now 379 mb instead of 337mb like on froyo so they free more memory on this then my htc g2.

Actually, the bars are for your cell signal for phone calls, etc, not the broadband 3G signal. There are other ways to check that.

Right. And just because the bars are displaying differently doesn't mean your signal is any different. Maybe the bars just display differently.

Dbm reading is more accurate. SETTINGS>ABOUT PHONE>SIGNAL STRENGTH. -85 or lower is pretty good place to be.

I've tried running the update, but after it downloads it give me an error saying the "device runs out of memory". Not sure if it's referring to RAM or phone memory. I've tried the update in safe mode with the same results.

I have tried this download 6 or 7 times now, and each time I get a message saying "device runs out of memory". I have plenty of memory on my phone, over a gig on the actual phone and 8 on the SD Card. The RAM is fine as well. Has anyone else dealt with this problem?
If so, please help!

Hey! The times that I have gotten the "memory" error was times that the phone is trying to use WIFI to download and I have no WIFI connection or when I have a WIFI connection but I believe with the update it doesn't use the WIFI so just make sure the WIFI is turned off and not that the phone says it won't use the WIFI. Try that and maybe it will work. Just a suggestion. Hope it helps.

I eventually got it to work after a few hours. The problem wasn't wifi or anything I could change on the phone, but just a system bug. Someone suggested I take out the battery and try, and I did and it worked.
Does it make sense?
No.
Am I happy anyway?
Yes.

So... now we have 2.3 Gingerbread... I don't see much difference in this updates...
sooooo where is the TouchWiz 4.0 XD
I was expecting TW 4.0 and more locale settings in this update...
seems I was expecting too much... *sigh*
