How do I eliminate my voicemail password?

Ever since purchasing a Samsung Galaxy Nexus I have had trouble accessing my voicemail. Whenever I am in my home Verizon refuses to recognize my password which I've used for years. Possibly this is due to a weak signal but the phone works fine. I am tired of being unable to access my voicemail and wish to eliminate the password entirely. Can anyone tell me how to do this? I went to my account online but the only option is to create a new password. Verizon won't allow anyone to have a blank submission. Thank you to anyone who can help. At present I have 3 messages that I am unable to access.

Go to contacts, edit voicemail number like this *86,(then your pin number ). Put a comma in between the numbers. On the basic phones it was the letter p between them, p for pause.

A voicemail password is required.
I have even read that AT&T is now requiring one for their customers.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Call CS and reset your password.
On your device dial *86 or hold 1(until it dials).
Go through the setup. I believe in there should have an option to turn it off.
You will always have the pin, but you have the option not to use it if I remember correctly.

I just went to voicemail and can only find the option to change password but didh't see anything about deleting one, where exactly is the option? We have our passwords stored so when we dial voicemail it automatically logs us in without touching anything. Mary

change the password & maybe the problem will go away & you can retrieve the messages.
how do you store/use the vm password without entering pw? i personally don't want someone else getting into my vm.

Thank you for responding bearone21. I could easily change the password but would probably have the same problem which only occurs in my home. Personally I don't care about privacy in this instance. I'm retired and my voicemail is not that confidential. I am simply seeking ease of access and now I have it. While trying to solve my problem, however, I discovered that it is impossile to set speed dials on the Galaxy Nexus or at least I couldn't find a way. I still have the speed dial settings from my old phone but can't create new ones.

@This will work but just for the record this is a security issue because all a user has to do in go to the contact info for VM to know what your password is..... Also about removing the password all together it can not be removed because of the same security situation that I reported above.Go to contacts, edit voicemail number like this *86,(then your pin number ). @OP
This would work but this would create a security issue wit accessing email because the passwordwill be stored for anyone to look it up.
As for removing the password all together, like already reported, the password is a required item to restrict users from access the account without your knowledge.. If the pasword only has issue at home and you reported a possible reception issue this is basically your issue. Are you using Visual Voice Mail or just the basic VM?

I am 49 and no one else has access to my phone and I am good about not loosing it so not a problem for me. I hardly get a lot of calls even though my phone is the main house number so get very few messages and what I do get are boring. Mary

I appreciate your suggestions and points to ponder Wildman. Security is not important to me since I don't plan to store anything on this phone of a confidential nature and I didn't sync my main email to the phone. This is my first Android based phone and I have much to learn so I imagine I'll be back to this forum with more questions in the future. I do not have Visual Voicemail yet but plan to install it soon. If you have any tips in that regard I'd love to see them and save myself hours.

Thank you pjsherod. I tried some of the other suggestions but yours was the one that worked. I also created a Voicemail logo, took a picture of it with my camera and added it to the contact. I then starred that contact as a Favorite. Now I can look at the pictures of my favorites and see Voicemail very prominently.

I've had Google Voice for about 4 months. It seems that more than half of the messages can't be transcribed at all (maybe they're hangups) and 95% of the ones that come through are totally useless! Most of the time, they don't even transcribe the phone number correctly that the caller leaves in the message. I've never tried Verizon's visual voicemail. How is it on quality? I'm willing to pay the 2.99 a month if I can read them. Most of my calls are not from people that I know; it's more business than personal so I don't recognize the callers to find out what's going on with the voicemail. (And I don't listen to voicemail; I know, bad business practice but I don't have time, hence, visual voicemail).

I prefer YouMail myself from the market, it works well and it supports transcribing but I never used it because it is a premium option. I do not think Verizon supports transcriber option but I never seen any that did it correct so it was useless for me also. YouMail allows custom greeting for Groups or Individuals that I really love.
I signed up for YouMail free and then added the Better YouMail app from another developer because I like the UI better and I haven't looked back.
