I want to clean up my text messages because I have a ton. Is there a way to delete text messages either after a certain date or after so many in a conversation thread? The information I am seeing online is way old.

Having to manage a lot of text messages can become a tedious task. Let's see if there are settings you can adjust to get rid of old messages. Which Samsung Note do you have (II, 4, etc.)? I found steps for the Note II so if this doesn't work let us know which model you have.
1. Open the Messaging app (the pre-installed one not Verizon Messages or any 3rd party text app).
2. Tap the Menu key at the bottom of your phone (small square with 3 lines).
3. Select the Settings icon (gear wheel).
4. Scroll to Text Message Limit and adjust as needed.
5. Go back up to the Delete Old Messages section and Ensure that the it has a check mark.
Let us know if this is helpful.

Steps 4 and 5. I do not have the option with Messenger Plus to automatically delete messages in the options screen.

Got it. Thanks so much for confirming. To clarify, are both your device software and Message+ application up to date? Were you having issues with the messages taking up too much storage on your device? We want to do all we can to help.

If you notice those instructions are for the default messaging app probably meaning Samsung messaging not verizon messaging. I have a note 10 plus but I use samsung messaging. Has the option for older texts to delete after 1,000 or 100 multimedia. Couldn't see that option in verizon messaging but must be there some where.

@acraftylady2 , you are correct. Message+ was installed on the phone when I purchased it and I did not think of it as a third party app. I do not use Samsung's message app but wanted to stick with Verizon's app as I like it more.

I looked all over in messaging plus and could find no setting for something like this so would love to know where it's hiding. Googled and could find nothing either. Samsung and LG provide it. Find Samsung messaging much simpler and easier for my needs, so was LG. Maybe try searching youtube videos.

I agree. I have been looking for it. At first I did not like the feature but now I want to use it and would like it. It may be that I am used to it, but am finding Message+ more preferred to me. To each there own.
If there is no fix, I am willing to put Samsung Messenger my default for it to clean up the messages and then go back to Verizon, but am not sure how quickly they clear out.

I would just delete the certain ones in messaging plus. Switching to Samsung after 1,000 it will delete or 100 multimedia ones so can't see how that will do you any good if it deleted ones you want to save.

I am not looking to save any messages. I am going to hope that the Verizon rep will be able to provide some kind of insight. I do know how I can work around if they cannot. Thanks

I have a feeling message plus doesn't offer this feature. Hope you figure it out.

Yes. Everything has been updated to the latest version. I do not like having a ton of messages under a user and prefer to keep the messages to a minimum or under control. Having to go into each message to delete older messages is very time consuming. I remember a long time ago Message+ had it, but it is no longer there.
