I am having trouble keeping my bluetooth headset connected to the phone. Sometimes while making a call the bluetooth disconnects just has a call comes in or just before the connection on a out going call.

I restart the phone, but it has no effect.

That's pretty strange, mwb1957. I haven't come across this same issue with the Note 3, so let's look into what's going on. Have you had the opportunity to try a different Bluetooth device? What make and model Bluetooth are you using? When the call seems to disconnect from the Bluetooth, are you and the headset within a few feet of the device?

I am using a plantronics voyager pro headset only. The headset is almost always close to the phone. As a call is coming in I can see the bluetooth button on the call screen flicker then go off. This will happen for a few hours then stop. I usually restart the phone with no effect.

Thanks for your reply, mwb1957! Like JenniferH stated, I haven't heard of such a thing before. Have you noticed any patterns to the time that this happens? Such as, do you find yourself in the same locations each time (in the car, in a specific room of the home or office)? Have either devices (phone or headset) experienced physical damage?

Has there been any resolution to the poor bluetooth quality issues? I traded my Motorola that synced perfectly with my car for this Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and I cannot connect for any longer than 20 seconds. Drops, connects, drops, connects and it even hung up once! How can this be? Are there any answers on here?

There has been no resolution for the issue with my ear piece as stated above. VZW just stopped responding on the issue and nothing has been said until you brought the thread back to the fore front. Maybe you will get a good answer for your issue. This latest update VZW did really messed up many customers phones and appears they don't know how to fix these customers issues at all. Good luck with getting your BT issue resolved.

My S4 has a similar issue with my Plantronics Legend earpiece from time to time. I can't really get a pattern to it. It does not do it often. I updated the firmware in the earpiece to the latest firmware on the Plantronics web site. I never had the problem until I got the S4. Either one of my S3 gave this problem.

Lets make certain you stay connected japetty! It's odd that it happens randomly but we'll pinpoint the issue. Do you use any other bluetooth device? If so, do you experience the same issue?

When I used it with the S3 I sold a few months ago I never had an issue. I got the S4 after the S4 32 GB became available. I noticed the issue randomly so I updated the software in my plantronics legend to the latest available and it still disconnects randomly. It may go one day or it may go a week. It may do it here at the house or it may do it when I am driving down the road. I can always get it to reconnect easily and sometimes it will not disconnect and sometimes it just keeps disconnecting until I reboot the phone.

Thanks so much for the insight, Japetty. Is the call still there when you drop from the bluetooth? Does the call drop as well? Any particular applications that have been downloaded since you received the S4?

The calls are never dropped I can have the phone reconnect to the ear piece but it does not stay connected. The only way calls will stay connected once the earpiece starts disconnection from the phone is for me to end that call and reboot the phone and establish the phone call again. Even this process does not always work but usually it does work for a period of time. Thanks

Just started disconnecting about 3 hours ago. In order to get the BT to connect I had to reboot the phone and then turn the ear piece back on and it stayed connected until the battery ran down just now.

THanks for all the extra details, japetty. Do you have the original Voyager PRO or the PRO HD? Have you tried to completely unpair the headset to the S4 the re-pair it? When it seems to disconnect, please check the phone to see if it's still showing the Bluetooth headset paired in settings or if it's not recognizing it within the range anymore.

I have the Legend as stated above. It worked just fine with the S3's I owned but with the S4 not so well. I have paired and unpaired and repaired the phone and the ear piece many times. The phone has always stayed paired with the ear piece when it does the disconnection trick. I will have to reboot the phone to get the phone to connect with the ear piece and stay connected.

I have been having the same problem. It is maddening as I prefer the Plantronics. It does not do this with by Bose so it seems to be unique to Plantronics and would love a solution.

I recently lost my old Plantronics. So I thought maybe a new one would not have the issue of disconnection but I was wrong. The new one disconnects just as the old one disconnected. I have not contacted the Plantronics help desk yet but may soon if the problem does not get fixed. I did not have this issue until VZW updated my phone to 4.4.2.
