I don't want to pay for visual voice mail. How can I set my phone up for basic?

The only thing that shows up is Visual Voice Mail, which will cost per message.  That's nonsense.

I am having this same issue! I am happy with calling my voicemail like normal, how do we change this?

Remove the visual voicemail ability in apps and programs/features in My Verizon.  You can also dial *86 or longpress your #1 on the dialer.
