I'm out of device storage...apparently

Tried to install app updates and received message that I have no more device space! I have tried to shut down nonessential/unused apps and receive vicious warnings against doing that. There's a fat Miscellaneous Files category. Can I delete Miscelleaneous Files? Otherwise how do I increase my device storage? I've moved all files to my SD card that I'm allowed. This is less than a year old Samsung 4 and I don't run that many apps on it. Help?

What is the storage capacity? The available space? Can you uninstall any applications you aren't using?

Have you cleared the cache for the applications?

Hi Ann154I have 16 gb storage capacity and 700 mb available. Applications and Miscellaneous Files take up 80% of used space. I have uninstalled all that are available to uninstall. Most do not have the uninstall button. Force Stop is about all I can do. I've cleared cache several times from app manager. Thank you for your interest and any suggestions are appreciated.cjmbecker

Have you moved your pictures from the internal memory to a SD card?

llery file does not have that move available. Unless I have to connect to the computer and try to move it via Windows Explorer. My Gallery shows 5.93 MB  in Application Manager. However on Storage Pictures and videos load at 101MB I am beyond puzzled. A friend spent an hour on the phone looking at this from various directions and wound up as puzzled as I as to why so much appears to be blocked from me. Especially that large  8GB Miscellaneous Files. I appreciate your responses.

Your best bet is to dive into the phone storage on the computer. Look both in the SD and the device storage menus. Also, sort by size would quickly identify what may be consuming the most space. Good Luck.

Thanks! I did just that yesterday and wiped out a lot of left over files in the Download folder ( none of which were visible on the phone!). I am still  puzzled about the 6GB taken up by the Miscellaneous folder. I deleted several large files from there and the storage remained at the same level. Additionally, while on my computer I saw that my device storage is showing 10GB and not 16GB as shown in my phone. That, too, puzzles me. At this point I have retrieved almost 1 GB of storage space. I plan to visit the Verizon store to let them explain to me just how much device I have as supposed to have. Thanks for the response!
