HW: I500.04

FW: 2.2.2

Build: SCH-I500.ED05

NO NEW UPDATES AVAILABLE!

MULTIPLE SOFT AND HARD RESETS PERFORMED!!

Okay, so that should take care of the first FIVE question you guys want to always start with. Since purchasing this phone for $300 when it came out. I've been given two other "Certified" replacements for the following issues:

1. Constant force closes in VZW apps and TP apps

2. Missed calls/texts (newest problem)

3. Safe mode/lost apps

4. Regular screen captures (newest problem)

5. Freezes during phone calls and general usage

6. Flickering menu buttons (menu, home, back and search) during phone calls or incoming calls (newest problem)

7. Repeated soft resets and phone still remains frozen (newest problem)

8. Swipe feature unresponsive when texting -- touch sensor guage is out of sync (newest problem)

9. Ghost back button returns to home screen (newest problem)

10. Market updates fail

11. Screen freezes in the on position, overheats the phone (get a little android man w/ battery warning)  and drains battery

12. Battery won't hold a charge beyond a couple hours (newest problem)

13. Dropped calls

Please don't tell me that none of these are widespread issues. I've read through numerous threads and it is very apparent that the issues I've listed are widespread with users of this phone. I just want another phone and not another fascinate. I had been told Verizon (by an in-store manager while there to complain about this phone) was offering the Samsung Charge as a replacement to this phone due to the widespread issues, but now tech support is denying this claim. After further questioning, I was told that the offer had expired and I was not eligible to get the replacement. When in fact, I was calling and reporting these issues during the time of the offer. Whenever I requested a different phone I was told I could not have anything other than another one of these stupid fascinates. This phone OR should I say the VZW build is garbage. Please do something about this phone!! I'm sick of it!!! I don't want to be in another position of needing to make a phone call and can't. What happens if it is a matter of life and death and I'm stuck with this poor performing phone that won't allow me to make or receive calls. I have young children!

$299 original release and dropped to $199 pretty quick.  I think it was "on sale" for $149 when I got it.  FYI

$299.99 is the "accessory bundle" price when it launched. The phone itself was $199.99 with a 2 year agreement. It was $569.99 full retail when it launched, too, btw.

Either way I'm not sure what the price of the phone has to do with the real issue, which is that Samsung cannot be bothered to fix the software for the CDMA Galaxy S phones.

The accessory bundle makes sense.  Now  back on topic.  Gingerbread fixes alot of the Fascinate's issues.  Is it perfect, no but what is.

Folks you can wait on Samsung and VZW to release it (if they do) or you can be creative and go get it.  I and others have chosen to get it.  Sometimes you just have to grab the bull by the horns and go for it.

If they won't help with an upgrade do it yourself.........................

I'm glad to hear your guy's GB leak is good... my Epic the GB leaks are noticeably WORSE than Gingerbread, and break a LOT of apps such as Plants vs Zombies!

Well, I received Fascinate #4 last week and it's dying on the field like the last three phones did. I told the folks at Verizon that "Certified Like New" doesn't mean better if the software is shyt. LOL!! Oh well!

I have given up on trying to convince someone to swap out my phone and resorted to sending letters to the office of the president and down the chain to General counsel. We'll see where this leads me. As I've said, until my contract is up I'm just going to keep pushing because one thing is for sure, I will not continue to fork over good, hard-earned money for a device that I can bare hold a phone conversation on.

Correction to the last post: I received feedback from Verizon's office of the president. They are offering me a choice of any 3G Smartphone to replace my Fascinate. I went through their and did not find another Samsung that I liked. So, I decided to try the Motorola Droid 3; which was my second choice while shopping for the new Fascinate, a year ago. Let's see if this phone will cooperate. I hope so.

I understand your concern to have a working functional device, since you appear to be experiencing similar issues on multiple device and I am wondering if you have tried wiping the device and using the device with only the stock UI and interface to isolate if a application could be the nature of your issues.

Also another thing to consider is that a number of reports that duplicate other forums threads usually come from users reading the post and then decided that their device is doing the same thing... I am not saying this is your situation but this has been seen regularly on a number of forums.

I would try excluding all possible added applications and any custom settings before you report the device as the problem child... Samsung has had a history of issues and this hasnt been a secret for a number of years and if the device is the problem for almost a year like you reported, you had a option to return the device before the 14 day return policy for another device but after you have had the device over the contracts allowed exchange time I would not be upset with Verizon for following the policies and agreement that you signed at time of purchase.

Just like what was reported earlier in the thread, the company is functioning within the agreements range and to demand a replacement of the device to another simply isn't a required solution.

Would you buy a car for a year and due to issues demand for a replacement vehicle because the car wasn't to you expectations? And I am sure you would pay more than 300.00 for the vehicle...

Not being sarcastic, just stating reality..

Really? Typical VZW Rep..... let's stand behind Policies that are set only in the favor of VZW and are intentionally designed to screw the consumer. 14 days isn't enough time to even fully learn all the functions of these smart phones let alone figure out if what a phone is doing is "normal" or if it's completely wacked. Verizon's policy of replacing new phones with garbage is ridiculous. If I didn't know better I would swear that ALL of VZW's phones are POS refurbished phones and just put in new boxes.

Not being sarcastic, just stating reality....and if you haven't figured it out yet.....VERIZON LOVES TO SCREW THEIR CUSTOMERS.

I am sorry that you view the following of policies and rules as taking advantage of customers and SCREWING them as you so colorfully reported...  Rules and regulations have been put in place to resolve situations just like this but so many can not accept this as a answer.

No one wants to deal with a malfuctioning device (Expecially if they are paying for service to use the device) but you have had the device well over the agreed upon replacement policies and it appears that nothing would satify your expected solution level so I wish you luck for a solution..

Good Luck..

I am in the same situation - different phone.  I brought 5 phones over to Verizon from T mobile, and must say I am sorry that I did.  My first NEW Droid 4 got so hot, that it nearly burned me, so I called and was told they would send me out a "certified like new" replacement.  This was within a month of getting the phone.  Here we are, 8 months later, and I am on my FIFTH certified like new phone.  All for various reasons, too hot, screens freeze, power off all the time, you name it.  I like the Droid 4 - I just want one that works.  I've gone through so many ZAGG shields, I've had to wait to request them because I just got a new one the week earlier, and they hadn't received it back yet.  These certified like new are garbage.  They did offer to send me a different phone - certified like new, of course, but why bother?  I am so fed up with Verizon, I'm sorry I came over to them.  It was a nightmare from the beginning.  I will be looking elsewhere but unfortunately not until 2014.  Until then, I guess, I just keep playing this stupid game.  I wish I would have kept the scalding hot phone - it was better than all of the issues I've had since then.  Thanks for nothing Verizon.
