Missed incoming calls

I just switched to Verizon a week ago.
I love my phone, but am having issues with receiving incoming calls... My phone doesn't show that I had any missed calls, however; I've had several people who would call me 5-10 times within a 30 minute time span - my phone would ring several times an go to voice mail. They would then call my land line asking why I wasn't picking up their call on my cellphone. I checked my cell, and there was no indication that I had missed any calls!
I did a little trouble shooting myself and found that it only happens when the call is coming in from another cellphone. If it's coming in from someone calling on a land line, it rings through to my cellphone.
Someone else I know that has the same phone has experienced the same issue, but said that it cleared up on it's own (they think). . . I've done some research online, and found that several Galaxy S3 users are having the same experience.
Question.... Could this be from the new Jelly Bean upgrade? Will there be a fix coming through soon? Or should I take my phone back to the store to exchange it for another? Again, I've only owned this phone for a week.

I would try taking it back to the store.
They may give you a different phone, different SIM card or try a factory reset. Regardless if the reps in the store call your phone from their cellphone and the same thing happens, it seems they should do something for you.
I have no problems receiving incoming calls on my GSIII.

Most likely this is a problem within the Verizon Wireless network and has nothing to do with your phone differentiating cell phone vs landline calls. Most likely a cell tower issue; maybe overloaded, no trunk lines, network routing, etc. I have the same problem with my Razr M from time to time. Call Verizon and report the problem. Have them check to see if your account is set up properly. If a store is nearby, stop in as reschnoor suggested and that will be one more data point. If you were missing all calls then I would suspect no connection to a tower or your phone.

I have alerted Verizon and they ran a few tests to see if they could find a cause. Everything came back okay. I'm going to take my phone back to the store to see if I can swap it out with another. Hopefully that will take care of the issue.

Exchange it within 14 days from purchase so you get a new replacement vs. refurbished. Good luck!
