My Samsung 4G in Afghanistan

Hi,

   I am in Afghanistan and have the new Samsung Galaxy S III 4G,  I didnt unlock it prior to coming over but have read that they do not need to be unlocked with the 4G.  Is this true ?? and how can I get it to work with a Rasham or AWCC SIM card???

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
