My s8 is not receiving texts. Already talked to tech support and have tried 3 diff texting apps including textra. What is the deal? Texting is what I use 90% of the time.

Bgood115,
We know how convenient it is being able to communicate through Text Message. We want to ensure you are able to send and receive messages again soon. Is your device up to date with the latest software version? Was there anything done differently to your device such as a modification, before this issue began?

Yes. It is up to date as of 10/3. I have had this problem since I bought the phone a few months ago. I did the forget I message process and have talked to tech support. It's hard to tell how many messages have been missed when the phone doenst receive. The only way to know is by talking to people. Very frustrating for latest phone bot being able to perform basic tasks.
Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

Let me attempt to redeem myself.
You are far from being alone.

Looks like it's affecting several Samsung models, and any of the SMS apps, and not just on VZW. Wow!
My wife and I use Whatsapp. She has an iPhone, and I have an Android - and we are happily celebrating our anniversary today.
The application is rock solid, provides encryption, and is fast. You can see when your recipient is online, and when they've received your message. How about that? It also supports better emojis. Send text, pictures, audio. Do it reliably.
Try Whatsapp, for you and the critical ones in your life... and never look back.
((I have no interest in Whatsapp, except I wouldn't be using anything else for texting my wife.))

I actually have the S7 that I have never installed Nougat on. I look at the S8 comments because I'm due for an upgrade soon. I'm concerned about the broken/cracked screen issues.

S8 with the "screen without limits"? It does seem like manufacturers are pushing the limits of design, manufacturing, and mechanical stress survival.
So no issue with pre-Nougat on an S7? Maybe Samsung introduced a bug into recent builds.
Ouch on both accounts.

I haven't installed Nougat because of all the problems it created. Now, I think the delays have caused a problem doing the install. I will have to use the Samsung Software Upgrade with my laptop because according to the phone, the 'software update is temporarily unavailable'. My only concern about not doing the update, which is still a possibility, is missing the security updates that are included.

Wow, I read the issue quickly and thought it was iPhone 8. I did not have sufficient coffee this morning.
Apologies to everyone in the thread, specially the OP.
