New Fascinate

I am looking to upgrade, I saw the Fascinate is only$99. After looking at the forum it looks like it is upgradeable to 2.2. Is that correct and is the phone worth buying?

2.2 for the Fascinate is being rolled out now.  I liked the Fascinate when I had it but it's not worth locking yourself into a 2 yr contract this late imo.

I don't use the internet that often, I currently have the envy touch with no internet.

its being phased out soon too, its older then the fascinate

 

oh and fascinate is only 99.99

Honestly if he doesn't care about the latest and greatest, getting last year's high-end is preferable to this year's entry-level, and costs about the same right now. I'd take advantage it.

If you are not using data service (internet, email, etc..) then don't get a smartphone. The data plan is $29.99 and is required.

If you access the internet only occasionly then the feature phones with a limited $9.99/mo data plan may be better.

  What are the things that are important to you in regards to the phone? Do you want a physical keyboard? Social Networks Integration? Video? Does size matter? (I can hear the comments about this already....;>) Price?

 

  I would buy the Fascinate right now at $99 knowing that the 2.2 update is there and being pushed out, because it is a great phone. It has the Corning Inc. gorilla glass on the front, which means it is less subject to scratches and damage (Not immune to them, just less subject to them)

 

My $.02

Its a good phone since the release of 2.2, however, it really depends on your needs. Don't get a smartphone because everyone says you need to get into the 21st century, just be a smart shopper, there are so many ways to go now, just do some research and you be happy you did
