Phone locks in "no service"

I work in a building with a metal roof, so reception is poor at best. I recently "upgraded" to Lollipop and the situation got much, much worse. Instead of one bar, I have none and then, "no service." The phone does not recover when I move to an area where I have a cell signal. I have to reset the phone to get it talking to the cell net again. This is not acceptable; any thoughts on how to convert my overpriced paperweight back into a reliable phone?

Look under settings>more networks>mobile networks>network mode and see if it's set to Global or LTE/CDMA or LTE / GSM / UMTS.

Did you perform a factory reset before or after the lollipop install?

1. I'm set to GLOBAL.

2. I have been using RESTART to get the phone talking to the network,

but I have not tried a factory reset either before or after upgrade.

change to lte/cdma, power off, remove & replace simm card, power on.

Tried it...no joy. I can walk to an area of known good reception, but the

only indication is blank bars and a small "x". When I restart, I have 3

bars and 4G indication. Very frustrating.

IF I didn't have to RESET the phone to connect to the outside world, you

would be correct. The problem is (and has been)that the phone quits

looking for the network when I am in a poor reception area. When I go to

an area with good reception, NOTHING. No phone. No internet. When I reset

the phone, everything behaves as it should. This doesn't meet anyone's

definition of "working correctly."

you might consider replacing the simm card.

We know how frustrating it can be to constantly have to restart your phone to get reconnected to the network. We want to make sure we get your phone working to the best of it's ability. When did you do the upgrade to Lollipop? Does this only happen when you're at work or is it happening in other areas too? Try placing the phone in Safe Mode, http://vz.to/1Tz5c6S will show you how, to see if that changes your phone's ability to pick the signal back up when you reenter a better coverage area. Keep us posted on what happens.

Still no joy in Mudville.... The tech at my local Verizon store tried

shifting into airplane mode and then back out: that gets cell service back,

but I have to remember to do it or "no service" is all I have. Still,

better than resetting my phone all the time.

I have the same issue and have tried the same options without success. Manually switching from LTE/CDMA to one of the other choices and back forces the phone to find the network as well. This appears to me to be a software bug, where the phone is not automatically searching for the cell network once it loses contact. I suspect that it may have something to do with the power conservation software, but I cannot find out where to change anything that helps
