Problems with the Galaxy Nexus

I upgraded to the Galaxy Nexus – your flagship device.  It now has a whole laundry list of known, critical issues.  You’re holding the Android software update that will fix these known problems but you won’t release it.  After 5 months, still no fix.  Even while the Sprint Galaxy Nexus has Android 4.0.4, we're stuck on the the buggy 4.0.2.

Now that you have me locked in a contract the only thing you’ll do is replace my phone with the same model that’s refurbished – not even a new phone of the same model.  And it would come with the same software version.  You won’t even replace my phone with a different model that works as expected.  I’m just one of many, many people in this situation. Let’s see where JD Power and Associates ranks your customer service next time, Verizon Wireless.  Shame on you!  Even your own forums are filled with complaints from Nexus owners and still VZW remains silent.  This is piss poor customer service and it has definitely been noted by me and many others.

I'm stuck on CDMA/3G on my GN. Once i try to connect my GN to LTE/4G i get random intermittent signal lost for both voice and data. Come on Verizon! where's our update?!

I was looking for a place to complain about my GN because I'm in the same boat as you guys.  Its especially frustrating because I use the GN for work and quite frankly, it sucks as I need to use the internet often (when it doesn't go out).  MikeinATL speaks for many of us.

MikeinATL, I loved your post. I hear that a fix is out as of 5/1/2012. I hope so. I have turned off my 4G altogether and everything works fine. I am paying for 4G but unable to use it. But we will see with the OTA update.

Same here, CDMA only. VERY annoying. Wish I never switched from T-Mobile!!! They don't charge you more to use hot spot either!

Now that 4.0.4 is slowly being released, I'm yet to hear anyone say that the intermittent muting problem, the random resets, or any of the other problems have actually been fixed.  I found an app that helped with the 3G dropping problem, but that was on the last phone, and I don't remember the name.  I'm sure it is in the My Apps section somewhere.  Not going to bother since I'm going to ask for another replacement phone soon.

I was told by a rep that I had to receive three phones before Verizon would give me a different model.  I'm on number 3, but their records only show 2 replacement phones.  I guess the one I got 3 days from original purchase didn't count 'cause I got it from the store and not through customer service.

Anyway I'd like to see a list of the bugs/problems that 4.0.4 actually fixes.  What I've seen is a list of new problems.

My biggest frustration is that verizon doesn't/won't even admit they have a problem.  If they would just give the reps a line or two about the problems and send us to tier 2 or 3, it would be different, but tier 1 wants to try everything on their list of fixes before they will let us talk to a tech that at least knows there is a problem, however won't say so directly.  I'm fed up with Verizon and it's time to do something.  I'm looking at the other 4GLTE verizon phones and they seem to have problems too.  I'm not an apple fan so there really isn't anything that Verizon has that I want to downgrade to, except maybe a phone that I don't use and just pay the base for the remainder of the contract.

I hate liars and by withholding the truth, it makes Verizon Wireless reps look like liars.

ok I've said too much, but seems like a good place to rant for a while.  Thanks for listening.

I gave up on the Nexus.

I really liked the phone and ICS, but the data connectivity was terrible.

I tried 2 different Nexus phones within the last 10-days and the data connectivity was spotty at best.  My wife's RAZR (or my co-workers Rezound) would get 4G signals and I would barely be able to connect on 3G and these phones were sitting right next to each other.  This was the same with TWO DIFFERENT Nexus phones.  I'm glad I figured this out before the 14-day grace period was up.  I'm now waiting for my Rezound to be delivered tomorrow.

I've heard the 4.0.4 update doesn't fix anything except give you more bars.  Your signal level is still low (by dBm reading).  IF you're within your return window, I'd suggest a different phone (non-Nexus).

I got my Rezound and it's AWESOME!

In the same places I had my 2 different Nexus phone I had 4g connectivity with 3 bars!!!  The Nexus had 28% of the time with NO SIGNAL and the Rezound is 0% of the time with no signal.

STAY FAR AWAY from the Nexus.

I feel your pain! This is absolutely unacceptable! I am on my 3rd "refurbished" phone only to find out two weeks ago all the issues I have been having are "known issues" SHAME ON YOU VERIZON!!!! I am now being told the update is going to fix everything and be pushed out the first part of May. Here we are May 16th and still nothing! I have multiple phone calls into VZW support only to get told they will get back to me in 24 hours but hear nothing! I call back and all I find out is that the person on the end of the phone is lieing to me about their name and employee numbers!

If there is anyone monitoring this forum and considering the Galaxy Nexus - DON"T BUY IT!!!!!

If there is any VZW representative that has some authority to make things right with me feel free to give me a call!! Hopefully, I'll be able to answer cause I never know until I check if the phone is still connected!

I think 90% of the people that bought the Galaxy Nexus wish they never had. It seems Verizon set this phone up to fail from the start. I have to pull my battery twice a week just to keep the phone working. My onscreen buttons are constantly disappearing, I've done multiple hard resets. Nothing works. We all know that google had rolled out an update for the Galaxy Nexus awhile ago but Verizon still hasn't had the decency to let any one know when we will see it. Sure we can root our phones and install it ourselves but that voids the warranty, which is what Verizon might be after any how.

Yeah I'm one of those people. Used an unlocked Nexus One, Nexus S on Tmobile.

Never had a problem. Never.

Get a Gnex on vzw and its hell city. I'm on my 3rd Gnex now. Last two were replaced due to faulty hardware.

I wish I never came onto verizon. 4g is useless if you can't use it.

I wish I just waited for the Google play store to have the Gnex and buy it for use with Tmobile.

Should have stayed with tmobile honestly. I hate this shit. Paying out of my nose for crap thats unsatisfactory on contract and stuck.
