Process Com.android.phone stopped working

For the last 2 days my Galaxy S4 displays this error message when I try to enter my voice mail by way of touching the voice mail app. The call to voice mail does not go through and then the error message pops up. I have updated my OS to Kit Kat 4.4.2 and this is the only problem that I have encountered. I can get my voice mail by calling *86 without getting the error message. I can send and receive calls normally, also text messages go through. I've tried a battery pull and also pulled the sim card for a couple of minutes. I have also cleared the cache and data from the phone app with no success in getting rid of the error message. Any help would be appreciated.

Since this issue has started have you tried to place the phone into safe mode to see if you can get into your Voicemail with out any issues? I tried safe mode and the problem persists, As soon as I press on the voice mail icon a message come us saying "Searching for Subscription Service". After about 30 seconds the phone shuts down. My question is why is the phone searching for a subscription service when I already have an active voice mail account which I can reach by dialing *86? The last couple of times the phone shut down I have not got the original error message "Process Com.Android.phone.
