ha yeah, apparently it was recently changed but neither samsung nor verizon know when it'll be released. If you take the ?# off the end of the link it shows 2.2. Also lists 2.2 for the Epic too.

Here is my attempt at fishing for more information, it did not go well all I got was the update will be available in the Upcoming Days. But how should I expect them to know when the update will be available when it is verizon who is holding the update hostage.
Please wait for a Samsung Agent to respond.
You are now chatting with 'Sinclair '
Sinclair : Hi, thank you for contacting Samsung Technical Support. How may I help you today?
Visitor: Hi sinclair how are you I hope your holiday went well
Visitor: I was hoping you could clear up some confusion
Sinclair : Yes.
Sinclair : Please proceed.
Visitor: your web site stated that the Fascinate had 2.2 but my fascinate still has 2.1 and there are no available updates
Visitor: It also indicates that it has access to media hub but it does not does this mean Samsung is continueing to lead us poor Galaxy S owners on about our now 4 month old update promise
Visitor: or does it mean that Samsung jumped the gun and you changed your website early
Sinclair : I apologize for the confusion regarding the miscommunication of Android 2.2 release from the Samsung Website. Unfortunately, as of now Android 2.2 is not officially released in US. However, it should be released in upcoming days.
Visitor: Sinclair what part of the world are you from? I only ask because there is a huge cultural divide in the concept of time with regards to theconcept of time. In mexico for example it is customary to run 45 minutes late and in other countries time is of little importance so you can only imagine what "upcoming days" could mean
Visitor: is it the upcoming days of 2010 or the upcoming days of 2011. As I am sure you are aware we have had several release times given from September to October to by the end of 2010 to first quarter of 2011.
Visitor: As a customer that chose your phone over many other smart phones on the market I only hope you can understand my frustration
Visitor: I know that samsung is like an overbearring wife that does not allow you to speak for yourself but is there any clue as to how much longer we will be waiting
Visitor: Is the Canada version of the Fascinate so different from the US version that would explain this delay
Sinclair : We are not authorized to reveal any personal or location information as per samsung policies.
Sinclair : I can understand your frustration and I would also fell the same if I were in your place. but I am helpless
Visitor: I am sorry I should have known that Samsung would have the GAG order on. I only hope that during this holiday Season Samsung treats their employees better than their customers
Sinclair : know your intention to grab information about release of the update.Unfortunately we in the chat support team provide technical support for the phones. We do not have access to database to check for information latest releases at Samsung.
Visitor: I understand thank you Sinclair for you time, I guess I was only hoping you would have heard some buzz around the office that indicated the update was close or far as I am sure you reps are tired of being questioned about Samsungs lack of commitment to their customers
Sinclair : I can understand .
Visitor: I hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday and thanks again for your time I know Samsung has tired your tongue.
Visitor: Have a great day
Sinclair : You are welcome.
Sinclair : Have a great day. Wish you the same.
Sinclair : Bye.
Sinclair : It was a pleasure assisting you. Thank you for contacting Samsung Technical Support. If you have a minute, please click on the blue “X close” button to receive a transcript of your chat and fill out a brief survey to help us serve you better. Have a wonderful day!
Chat session has been terminated by the Samsung Agent.

yeah, the "should be released in the upcoming days" is a canned response. Every rep questioned about it today has said the same thing. And it looks like samsung got tired of all the questions and changed everything back to 2.1

I agree they changed it back due to the questions but I still think it was their way of saying your carriers have the update and should have updated your devices by now

I don't see where the rep stated or implied that the carrier already had the update. I have to admit that I'm shocked that he didn't feel obligated to provide you with any information considering your overwhelmingly friendly demeanor during the chat.

I did not mean to state that he stated that Verizon has the update. I was told by a manager a few weeks back that verizon has it and that they have to add their bloatware and test it, but it seems to be general knowledge that verizon has had the update for sometime. We also know that the update has been released in other locations and that Samsung themselves already worked on gengerbread with google for the nexus S. I think this shows that Samsung is ahead of verizon with regards to updates.

The Nexus S is a GSM based phone, the Verizon Galaxy S phones are not. Who's general knowledge indicates that Verizon has had the update? What other Galaxy S CDMA phones have been updated? Verizon has a history of not releasing any update until it has been thoroughly tested. They really have no reason to withhold it unless it isn't working properly.

I dont doubt that there are bugs to be worked out. But there are more issues than that for example when we call to ask an ETA on the update Verizon acts as if they have no clue. I would be happy if Verizon came out and said we are sorry for this unusually long wait to have the update pushed to your phones but we have encountered a few issues and we want to get them ironed out prior to releasing the update that seems reasonable and responsible. I also question their priorities there is another reason to hold it up as their focus is on new customer acquisition. They want to complete the 4G network and release the iphone which I imagine will put the galaxy s line further down the priority list.

Do you ever get embarassed to be a verizon representative when the company makes you look so inept. I mean Samsung changed their web site probably because they have been tired of fielding all of the where is FROYO calls and they have been taking the blame when infact the FROYO ball has been in verizons court for some time now. I think Samsung was trying to let everybody know that as far as they are concerned the Fascinate has 2.2 as they have been done testing it and sent it to verizon.
I personally would feel ashamed that everybody seems to know more about the products we (verizon) push and the updates verizon holds back but you a trained verizon rep. I thank you for your response and I know that you are only allowed to read off the card they give you but if I were in your position I may not have even responded as all you did was waste web space as it took you 30 + words to say I have no clue and as a verizon rep I am not allowed to think for myself.
