This has been an issue since Froyo released. The latest ED04 update was supposed to correct it but don't think it has. I have had more since I starting using it than I have in a while.
I called CS today and talked to tech support about it. While on one of the many holds I was abrubtly cut off and of course never got a call back. Way to go tech guys you know how to make a customer feel good.
For you guys on stock Froyo that have updated to ED04 watch your 3g icon. The colored arrows will turn grey and turn into a capital "D". This is where the problem lies. The modem/radio appears to go into some dormant state and results in missed calls.

I understand the importance of receiving your incoming calls. As mentioned previously, there was an update for the Samsung Fascinate. I would like to ask you to please check for the update on your device, as this may resolve your concerns. I have provided the steps about this below.
Select Menu
Select Settings
Select About Phone (have to scroll down)
Select Check for Updates
I hope this information is helpful for you.

This is becoming a problem that Verizon needs to address immediately. There are more people getting the update or even replacement phones and still having issues.
It's time to come forward and tell folks there is a problem and factory resets, *228 and refurbished phones will not fix this.

I finally got a customer service rep to see this. My newest refurb was still having problems today. Took it in. They started blaming the network, saying according to VZW my phone was roaming even though I was in an area saturated heavily with coverage. So they "fixed" it on the network side.
Once again, not fixed. Went to another store this evening and got a woman who helped with my last refurb to see the issue. I have a Droid X on the way with a free extended battery and cover since the one they are sending will obviously not come with either.
So, bye bye beautiful Fascinate screen projecting an obviously flawed OS. Hello Droid X and Gingerbread! I hope that my issues are solved. I realize no phone is without issues... but as long as I get my texts and calls I will be satisfied.
Good luck to everyone on finding a solution, whether it is with a Fascinate or elsewhere....

Same exact issue with all 3 Samsung Fascinate we have that the upgrade was done on. We have one other that did not get the upgrade and it is working fine. We have talked to customer service so many times these last couple weeks and they keep insisting that the ED04 fixes the problem, but it DOES NOT!!!!! I started telling everyone to leave a message when they call so I would know they call and I got messages all day today with no missed calls! My daughter sent me several txts that I never received as well!! Very frustrating!!!!!!

Hey I know maybe if we all get together and do a Factory Reset ,Battery Pull, and *228 all at the same time it will fix it
I truly think it is in the Software programmers hands and all the replacement phone,s is just to buy time and make it look like they Care when they don't all they care about is that we keep sending $$$$

I truly hope that this issue is resolved soon. I've also been experiencing missed calls, missed text messages, and no notifications for quite some time now, but predominantly following the recent Froyo 2.2 update. Not a happy customer.

Here is the Solution
I found it while sending my phone in to Samsung
Activate another phone on your line and you will stop missing calls Instantly
My Casio rock has not missed 1 call in the last 2 months while I shipped my phone 5 times to Samsung
4 of the times it came back just like I sent it in Missing Calls.
I hope when it comes back it will work on this 5th try ---- But if not I now know how to fix it
Reactivate my Casio Rock --Have Lost all Faith in Samsung--And Verizon for Marking these posts resolved when they are not
I turned my phone over to Samsung 2 months ago and It still is not resolved so why is the post marked as resolved now that Verizon has turn it over to Samsung
The only solution I have found is Activate your old non Fascinate Phone and as for me this is a Unacceptable Solution

Yah, I'd like to be able to have an old Verizon phone to use in the meantime, but oh that's right, we were new customers to Verizon in November 2010, with our Samsung Fascinates being our first phones with them!!! They keep changing our our defective phones with more defective phones. They won't let us out of our contract without penalty or give us a different phone with a completely different operating system! I don't give a rats #%! if it is an operating system problem with Samsung, WE PAY VERIZON FOR SERVICE SUCH AS RECEIVING CALLS, TEXTS, ETC, WE DON'T PAY SAMSUNG!!!!!!! Wake up Verizon!!!!!!!

Hello SFObrien,
You are correct. I'm not sure why that was excepted as a solution and I did remove the information as being resolved. Samsung is fully aware and are working on validating a resolution to provide a permanent solution. We appreciate your patience. Thank you.

Activate a dumb phone and drop data and you will have no missed calls
use the Fascinate on wifi
Better set up and you will recieve your calls
and you will have a awesome mp3 player
Just a thought
