Hi All,
I have tried going through the forums about various discussions on problems with call/battery, after the software updates
on Samsung Fascinate. I would like a to get a response from the verizon employee.. on what are they doing to solve this ?
I had no problems with the battery life or making/receving calls. Suddenly, I think after a software update, my battery life went down badly ( i would say the same normal usage). With it being completely charged in the morning, by evening, it would just die.
Also, I'm not able to make calls to my wife (we are on family plan) and after 2 rings, it goes to voicemail, always.. no matter from where i try or where she is..
Can anyone help me out of these 2 problems.

Hi sunilbasavaraj,
I truly understand your concern about the battery life. The Froyo update uses more resources (i.e. processor, memory) which did improve the functionality of the Fascinate but inconveniently in return uses more battery life.
At this time Samsung has not communicated a software update or resolution to the battery life issue. There was another software update, sadly not pertaining to this issue that that released on June 08,2011: Software Update. Please advise if you require additional assistance as we await a resolution from Samsung.
Thank you for your patience,

I understand that Samsung has not communicated a resolution to the battery drain problem. Have they indicated that they are working on one?

At this time, you have as much access to data on future enhancements and/or changes to Samsung devices as I do.

Arg, I've been having the same problem. I used to charge my phone once every couple days; today I've already had to fully charge it 3 times--and I only made THREE outgoing calls all day. Not to mention that thanks to the update, our cameras don't work anymore...

Why is this post marked as "solved?" Certainly the problem continues with Fascinate batteries lasting only a few hours before complete depletion. The phone is frequently useless. Here it is, July 6, no word on a resolution. Can the 2.2 update be rolled back? The phone was at least somewhat useful under 2.1. When my users first received the deices they loved them, my apologies for not knowing what level the OS was at the time. Now they are ready to trash the units because the battery dies so fast.
Thanks.

I'm having similar issues since the update(s)??? My battery used to last for 2-3 days (sometimes 4). Since the "update", it may last 2 days, or it may last 2 hours. Seriously, this morning I had a full charge when I left home, 2.5 hours later I have to turn the phone off because battery is almost drained, and I never used it this morning!!! I haven't installed any new apps, and keep it running the bare minimum. This is very frustrating, and almost renders the phone useless. One of the terms of employeement with my current employeer is that I be available via phone 24x7. This is very hard to comply with if your away from the charger and your phone randomly drains the battery!
Is Verison going to fix this, or offer a replacement phone (with all the purchased accessories) at no extra cost? I don't really want another phone because I like this phone (or at least I used to like it), but I like being employeed more than keeping an unreliable phone!

Today my battery only last 7 hours. I have only used it to text a couple of people. I have had numerous missed calls. I only know about them because the people that tried to call text me to let me know they tried to call.
PAYING OVER $100 A MONTH FOR A PHONE THAT DOES NOT WORK IS **bleep** ME OFF. I JUST PURCHASED IT LAST NOVEMBER!!

I had similar issues with my battery and then ran across the steps outlined at the following site, http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-765656.html to recalibrate the battery. It seemed to help quite a bit. It's been almost 19 hours since my last charge. Moderate usage since then and I have 63% battery life remaining. I normally recharge once every two days. With heavy usage that can go down to once a day.
Hope it helps.

I'm so happy to hear that I am not the only person who is experiencing this battery issue. Verizon's technical phone support never shares the information that others are experiencing the same problem. In addition, since the update, my phone is not receiving all incoming calls and does not even register as a missed call on the phone log. I am a real estate agent and my clients are accusing me of ignoring them and find it hard to believe when I tell them that I never got their call! After several calls to Verizon and several manual resets, I finally gave in and accepted the "new" refurbished phone. Just activated it and am still experiencing the same problems.
Is anyone else having this incoming call problem? I am also having problems with outgoing calls and texts.

I have had nothing but problems with this phone. Never getting my calls and if a voice mail does come its over an hour later. Most of my text messages don't go for hours or a day later if at all. I have almost no signal no matter where I am.. Verizon sent me a extender box to help with this problem at home HA HA.. I am sitting right next to it with 4 bars and still not getting my calls. Now they have offered me the droid charge, droid x2 or droid incredible 2.. but after reading reviews and post I am really discussed. Everyone is saying the charge and incredible 2 are having the same issues and I really hate the droid x2 but that one does have a little better review..I am TOTALLY UNHAPPY !!!!!! I am paying top dollar for phone service and getting metro pcs service.. NOT HAPPY!!!!

Reny, my wife and I are having the same problems with both of our Fascinates, we also have force closed applications, freezing, people say we sound distant and our voices sound scratchy over the phone. Most importantly we miss calls, from family, friends and work. This is horrible, we miss eachothers calls as well, even when we are sitting right next to eachother, we test this quite a few times and we end up missing a few calls, text or IM's from eachother, we are curious how many other calls we don't know about we have missed. The signal is also rather poor on both of our phones, it is usually 2 bars, when on our last couple verizon phones we would see mainly 3 bars and 4 bars. The wifi signal is poor too, sitting 5 feet away from my router produces 1 bar on wifi over the phone....we pay too much money a month for these types of issues to happen all the time.

I have had many, many problems since the last update, just as both of my daughters and son-in-law have. All 4 of us have the Samsung Fascinate since mid-December 2010 and with the exception of a few glitches, the phones worked fine until the last update. Problems include:
- Battery draining 2-3 times a day
- Not all incoming calls ring through to my phone AND
do not even show up in the 'Call Log'. However, I do
get a voice mail notification.
- Text messages do not always go through, both
incoming and outgoing - i.e., they are never received
- Some text messages go through minutes or hours
after they have been sent
- Battery gets extremely hot at times (even when not
in use) to the point I am sometimes afraid that it
will catch on fire.
- Calls go 'mute' for no reason
- Etc.
Over the last 2-3 months, we have talked MANY times to both Verizon Customer Service and Verizon Tech Support - usually to no avail. Depending on who you talk to, they give conflicting and often untruthful information (example: the Tech Support guy today told me that they would replace the Samsung Fascinate with a REFURBISHED phone. I told him I bought a NEW phone and that I did not want someone else's problems. He then told me even if Verizon wanted to do that they couldn't because Verizon no longer sells the Fascinate --- HELLO, IT'S STILL BEING SOLD ON THE OFFICIAL VERIZON WEBSITE. (If Verizon is interested, I can provide his name and the time of my call.)
Anyone else totally disgusted with Verizon? As a "Community", what can we do?

My husband and I support you and your issues as well. We actually made a LIST of issues with our last phone (we were having the same issue after the 2.2 upgrade, even though I had already replaced my phone once, his was still the original from Sept 2010).
- Dropped calls
- Calls that never show up as missed calls
- Calls go straight to voicemail when phone is on and has a signal (according to bars on screen)
- text messages sent hours/days later, or sometimes never
- Text messages sent multiple times
- Text messages received multiple times
- Random screen capture
- Camera stopped working during the update (the day before we left on our honeymoon, had to pay for an app for a new one, which verizon later refunded)
Same complaint about customer service/tech support/support in the store...got different answers, acted like we were completely out of our minds having issues, etc.) So we took a video of my husband's "possessed" phone (screen would go black and then buttons on the bottom would flicker and then die randomly) and showed it to them. the college kid said (LITERALLY) "WHOA dude...that's unreal"...no dear collegiate future of our world, that is RIDICULOUS, and FRUSTRATING!!
So they sent him a refurbished phone...and then I got another refurbished phone 5 days ago... and thought this was the end of the issues...
This morning (about 20 min ago) I was texting a friend...my screen begins to fade out with lines all across it!! I was smart enough to go get my camera and take pics as it died... husband got home, took out the battery and reset (AGAIN). Seems to work right now, until the next issue... REALLY??? When can we get a phone that WORKS!!!!?????
Is Verizon really hearing us?? Cause I thought I was possibly the only one until I got on here...HELP!!??

Thought I would chime in here as I have pretty much read all the issues and complaints here and have been dealing with the Fascinate issue myself.
Basically what I have learned is that if your phone is under warranty all they will do is tell you that the issue will be resolved with a replacement (which it is not resolved). The replacement phone comes with the latest update which in itself is not a fix that the rep said it was going to be. Note to Verizon, do not think that replacing the same make of phone multiple times is going to fix the issue. Also, do not tell me that since the phone is under warranty that I am only able to get a replacement phone - how about allowing me the choice to select a different phone so that I stick with you and not cancel my service because of non existant customer service.
I also note as others have that the battery on this phone is horrid - it does not charge when plugged in and using it. I have multiple lockups during the day where by I have to power cycle the phone - yes, even on the 'replacement'.
How about a little care and compassion to please your paying customers - not too much to ask is it?

Everyone call into CS/Tech Support and tell them to refer to the recent article/update to replace the phone. I seen this listed and here and had NO issue today getting a Droid X2. They will offer X2, Droid 2 or Incredible 2 (no they wont offer a 4G phone)

That may not work. I was offered the Inc2 or DX2 on the forums and when I called in even though it showed on my line to do the device switch none of the reps would do it. Talked to 3 different ones.

How is it possible that people are getting different phones and others not? What constitutes someone getting a new phone over someone who has the same issues and getting sent a refirb?
Seriously frustrating trying trying to add rationale to how verizon is handling these issues.
