In the stock email app is there a way to change the colors of the accounts? Also, is there a way of changing the width of the color bars on the side?

Fantastic question! I know easy it can be to quickly decifer emails with different colors.
I think I have found the solution to this.
1)Within Settings -> Power Saving there is a setting for Background Colour for email and internet. Turning this off seems to have solved my issues.
2)You have to open an email and click Menu. There is the option Change font colour, the middle one would be correct option.
