Is anyone having problems with your text messages going to the wrong recipient? Or when you get a message does it look like it's coming from the last person you were texting, instead of the person acutally texting? This has only been happening since the update. Any suggestions or anyone else having the same problem?

Texting the wrong person isn't very fun. I have searched your issue, and I have not found any customers who have similar issues. There could be a couple of issues that could cause this though. 1) Are you using any 3rd party texting applications such as Handscent? 2) Have you tried deleting your conversation history on your phone and retrying? 3) Are the people in your phone saved with the full 10-digit numbers ex: 800-555-1212? It could also be a temporary bug, and we would recommend just pulling out the battery and retesting.
Let us know if the issue is persisting or if this resolved your issue with texting.

This problem is not solved, as you can see by the other posts. This is still happening daily. Contacts are saved correctly with area code. I've learned to back out of the message and then go back into the actual conversation message, so as not to get myself in a mess, but it's ridiculous that I have to constantly do this. I've powered off, removed the battery, and done everything I can do to try and fix the problem. This didn't happen until the update....which I'm realizing was a big mistake on my part. Wishing I had just bought the Iphone to begin with, but wanted to wait until all the "new thing" kinks were worked out of it. Very dissappointed

We're very sorry you are all experiencing this issue of your messages not going to the intended parties. I have reached out to our Technical Support team and found this is actually a known issue with the Fascinate that was to have been addressed in the Froyo update; however, in reading this forum, it does not appear that is was in fact resolved.
To address this further, we will need to complete what is called a Product Issue Form so that we can address this with Samsung directly. This means I will need additional information from you, so I ask that you please PM me with your wireless number, and an alternate number where you can be reached. It is also helpful if you let me know a convenient time to reach you when you have a few minutes to talk with me.
I appreciate your time and look forward to working with you towards a resolution.
Sincerely,

I have been having this problem intermittently since receiving my Fascinate 3-4 months ago (both before and after the 2.2 Froyo update). A quick Google search does confirm that MANY users are having this issue on Android devices. The Verizon tech support rep I spoke to today said they have no known issues with this phone and believe it to be a Samsung issue. In the call to Samsung they said they believe it is a Verizon issue and when pressed asked to send hte phone in for review. I do not belive I ever experienced this issue with my previous Motorola Droid or Droid 2 and am incredibly frustrated that neither Verizon nor Samsung will acknowledge that this is a known issue that Google has acknowledged in the Android developer forums. This issue is a huge privacy and security concern and I am considering cancelling my Verizon contract and switching to AT&T with the iPhone. As much as I hate the idea of AT&T and don't care for the iPhone, I'm disgusted with Verizon's response and cannot afford to keep a phone where messages are sent to the wrong recipient.

*sigh* Google hasn't even advertised of this problem at all. The only people that know of this issue are people who are affected of it. As long as you are using Android it may or may not happen to you. It isn't device specific at all.
It doesn't matter what Samsung nor Verizon acknoledges or not. How can they fix it? Google bought and developed an OS which has had this bug since the G1. You need to honestly take it up with Google... They are feature happy right now, and haven't really dealt with bug fixes(can tell just by reading their bug pages).

I realize this is an Android issue and neither Verizon nor Samsung have the power to actually fix it. I do expect them, however, to acknowledge it is an issue and use their influence to push this with Google. Individuals have long since been submitting bug reports on this and other issues to Google and gotten little to no response.
A major carrier and device manufacturer should be aware of bugs in the devices they are shipping and escalate appropriately. There are some bugs I can tolerate--occasional phone crashes, application crashes, odd behavior. This particular bug where messages are sent to a recipient different than that actually chosen is dangerous and unacceptable.
The recent Anthony Weiner incident is a perfect example of how damaging this can be. In that case it was a boneheaded intentional move to send a compromising message to the wrong party. If that had actually been caused by this type of software bug, you better believe I would be looking at legal action against Verizon, Samsung, Google and pretty much anybody else I could think of.

For what? Does it matter if they say or not? Is there a hidden agenda for yourself to get something more than what you paid for? The people that know of the issue which doesn't advertise the issue let alone say anything about the issue unless confronted of the issue.

They may be aware, but the CSR you are speaking to probably do not know. They like you and I are like people. If I didn't own and develop on Android devices I wouldn't know of this bug unless it happened to me. Google has the reports in the thousands which makes it a minor bug to other bugs as it has not affected millions of Android devices. So Google isn't all that pressed to fix it.

Actually this would fall out of court. I can give various reasons why...
1. Verizon doesn't develop these devices and has nothing to do with their services. It's out of their control.
2. Samsung could fix the problem, but honestly they do not have the man power nor the knowledge as they didn't develop the software provided by Google. Google has the bug reports and could do something about it, but at this time has not addressed the issue since it's inception.
3. Google is the only one liable of any sort if courts would deem them liable.
BUT
When at some point when people will start taking personal responcibility for doing something they shouldn't be doing is for some adforseen event happens? Personally I wouldn't do that kind of thing, and I expect my wife to know better. You never know who may get their hands on it. Lose your phone, or get something stolen it will out there anyway. Someone hacks your email accounts. I mean seriously...

Hello Nydg,
Thank you Tidbits for the thorough information. I would like to add that an update was just recently released that may resolve your concerns for the messaging on the Fascinate. Below I have provided you with the steps to check for the update on your device.
Press Menu
Press Settings
Press About Phone
First, check your Build Number. If it is SCH-i500.ED04, then your device is up to date and nothing else needs to be done. If it shows anything else, please then press "System Updates," then "Check New." Following these steps should resolve your issue.
Thank you and have a wonderful day!

Hi Lilrascalga,
I have checked my references for the Droid 2 and I am not showing that there is a known issue with the Droid 2 sending messages to the wrong person. I assure you that I am not doubting your word. I do have a suggestion for you. As a workaround, you have the option of using a 3rd-party application from the Android Market to alleviate the problem with messages going to the wrong person. Go to Market>Search> SMS.
Does this happen with all messages? Do you notice if this is happening with a certain number, or maybe only numbers from a specific wireless provider?
Are you receiving messages with no problem?
Please post back with your findings.
Thanks and have a good day!

Hi Diane1,
I definitely understand your frustration with the Samsung Fascinate. I do want to let you know that the issues you are experiencing have been lifted to the product support team with Samsung, since they are the manufacturer of the device. I assure you that we are working on a resolution with Samsung so you will no longer experience these issues. There is no set time of resolution, however, since we are waiting on a fix from Samsung. I know that this is something that you do not want to hear, but I want to be honest with you.
Your posting also mentioned that you have other issues with Verizon Wireless.
Please let us know what these issues are, so we can address them for you. We will do all we can for you, and we would like the opportunity to change your mind.
Thanks very much and have a good day!

diane1-It seems as though you are pretty upset about the messaging on your Fascinate (as well you should be).
I'd also like to know if you installed the latest software that became available 7/28/11 to correct the issue you have been experiencing.
I also was having problems with messaging on my Fascinate as far as it showing the incorrect recipient, however since the update, it has been working smoothly for me.

Please let me know if you already have the most recent version on your Fascinate.

I've had this happen many times and I don't have the update yet. It will just show some random contact I have as the one I'm calling or getting a call from (even though the phone number is correct), and the same with texting.

I have experienced it also, it only happens to me when I get the text message and it display's it in the notification bar at the top of the screen. I am not sure if it is a random contact or the last one, but it is not from the person that sent it. Once I go into the stock text message app, it shows who it really came from, and is correct there. It is just a little annoyance seeing the notification displaying incorrect. It also does not happen alot, and seems to get corrected once I shut off the phone and pull the battery for a couple minutes.
