I was hitting the check now button for weeks. Then...

I read this on another forum, and it worked.

Home/menu/settings/apps/all/google services framework/

Touch this.

Once it opens clear data and force stop it.

Hit home/settings/about phone/check for updates.

Thank you!  Worked for me here in Pittsburgh! Third time was the charm. Before the update showed, the display under System Updates showed a date in 1969 as the last time the phone had checked for an update.  Update came immediately upon pressing the "Check now" button. Update installed without a hitch.

Thanks a million.  I thought I wasn't getting the update because I'm out of my home service area.  (Verizon's update page says it won't go OTA to people who are "roaming".)  Now It's slowly downloading over Central Oregon's sluggish 3G tubes.  Still downloading...still downloading...still downloading...

The OTA will download over Wifi.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I have had it for 3 or 4 hours now and I have had more calls cut out and text not go through then before the update. Update fail.

I'm sorry to learn that the calls and texts are not going through since the update. Are you getting an error message/recording when these actions fail? Often a simple battery SIM card pull while the device is on will resolve these concerns. Does this happen in a specific location? Keep me posted.

Thanks,

I just left a verizon store due to persistent issues. Yesterday i went to a verizon store and they changed the sim card. I do follow on twitter and last night I was told via twitter to do a factory reset. So i did that. Worked ok last night. Today still have the same issues.  So I into verizon again. I am put on the phone with tech support. I was told by a very nice support person that she removed me from the verizon network totally. A complete reset. Left it off for a few minutes then turned it back on. She had me check the signal strength. It was at -104 dbm and 38 asu. I have a follow up call tomorrow because this reset is supposed to "rebuild" me on the network. Since that time I have already seen it cut out again. Best I have seen on signal strength is -98 dbm and 44asu. When I was in the store I looked at the nexus they had in the store and it was -102 dbm at best. The Droid Maxx right beside it was -53 dbm. Great signal. If this doesn't fix my issue they are going to ship me a new phone. Keeping my fingers crossed but I have little hope.

There was a thing awhile back about about the GNex and ICS showing the actual dBm for the LTE signal where the others are showing the cdma signal which could explain the large discrepancy. Not at the computer so can't find the link right now.

Well the droid maxx i was looking at showed it was on LTE. So who knows. The person I spoke with said the -104 i had was not good and should be better than that.

Only thing didn't change for me after the update is the signal, still no bars and sometimes 1 bar,,,but calls work most time ,,,i can notice a big difference in voice quality, not choppy anymore....really didn't experience any other issues with my nexus besides signal, since i owned it...I do notice improvements,,.screen responsiveness was always good for me, now its butter  smooth...I was leary anyhow about signal, cause of mountains around me here in the country...no carrier is great here...I ordered a network signal extender today that i got a good discount on...$99. for a refurbished model,,, just wanted to try update first to see if it changed before ordering one...I had the same basic type extender on sprint here and worked good, so i should be good to go after i get the extender.

Worked for me as well, took 3 tries, but I'm now on 4.0.4.

Those that are still having issues after the update may want to consider doing a factory reset. I do that after every OS update, just to make sure that there are no conflicts and things are running the way they are supposed to.

Also, for those that have got it to work and have any interest, there have been multiple random reports of Google Wallet being available to them officially. It's not available to everyone, but random people have it. It seems like you have to install it from your browser, not your phone. Just go to the play store and give it a shot.
