Turn on/off photo geotag

I have photos with and without geolocation info. How is this turned on and off?

It doesn't turn off and on. This happens when the gps isn't in a location that it can retrieve your location, like in buildings for example.

I've tried going outside and still no luck getting it to geotag. At a verizon store right now and the Charge has that option in camera settings and geotags just fine under aroof. No luck on my fascinate.

Hi Szec87,

The Fascinate does not have a camera setting for GPS, so it does not have the ability for geo-tagging.

However, you are able to review the Android Market for free applications that offer geo-tagging, as well as some other options.

ChristinaB_VZW,

   I beg to differ with you, geotagging IS active on the Fascinate. I have taken pictures with the camera, and it puts the coordinates and address into the picture, and then allows me to send it to a map to see the exact location.

  Is that not geotagging?

Thanks for the post.  Did you have to do anything special to turn it on?  Do you have an older build?

  I got my original phone in October 2010, and I have had it replaced once since then, but that was in December I believe. My info is:

Build - SCH-I500.ED05

Kernel - 2.6.32.9

Baseband - S:i500.04.V,ED05

Firmware - 2.2.2

Hardware - I500.04

  You have to have Google Location Services turned on with your GPS to do Geotagging.

Yea I've had it on.  Nothing will get it to work.  Guess my phone is not working properly.

  Not all of mine will get the location tags on them either, it depends on the GPS and if it can lock on your location. I took a bunch of pictures over the weekend, a few have them, but alot of them do not, and the GPS was on the whole time.

GPS generally does track my location on other apps (Google Maps, Weatherbug, etc).  I even wait for a fix in those before I test the geocode and it never works anymore.  I was in the Verizon store and tried it on the Charge and it worked without flaw.  Fascinate doesn't seem to.
