If you want it sooner, you can download it directly from Samsung's open source site.

love the double http action going there
If they are going to release they are going to release it... I have one thing to add if the person I think may read this thread...
I thought all the XDA people were saying the Fascinate wasn't going to get an update... Also your "internal" sources said the same thing... So far those same people are 0-4 and if this proves true... they will be 0-5.

Don't hold your breath just enjoy the phone the way it came out of the box because they will not release Froyo for the Fascinate because the phone itself has issues preventing it from working right

If this isn’t just the funnie- I mean, most cruel thing ever, then I don’t know what is. Samsung has gone ahead and published the Samsung Fascinate’s Froyo source code well before Verizon has made mention of its official OTA upgrade. Yea, I can see you steaming over there. You shouldn’t be, though, because source means ROM developers will be able to bring more stable Froyo-injected wares sooner than you can call Verizon and demand to speak to a supervisor in futile attempts to get your OTA upgrade. Developers, start your engines and get downloading over at Samsung’s website.
Oh and Sandy I have been running Froyo on my phone for months and it works just fine... no your facts!

Why do I get the feeling that a month after the official release of a Froyo based ROM for the Fascinate, and most every Fascinate owner has it loaded, Sandy will be posting here, "Just enjoy your Fascinate as it came out of the box, because they will never release Froyo for it."

The ball's in Verizon's court now...Samsung has just proven they are finished with the code and it works on the fascinate. Any delays now are clearly Verizon's.

VZW will have to test it now to make sure all the bloat works, Bing,Navigator ,etc. And for all those looking to download and install the "source code" don't do that, it is not the OS and won't work. Source Code is for the developers.

Thanks. They'll also have to figure out how to get it to the phones. Either OTA, or Mini-Keis... A friend of mine has the Vibrant and T-Mobile chose the Mini-Keis route.
Personally, I think the Mini-Keis route is the smarter. That way they are not tying up valuable bandwidth doing OTA. My two cents.

Mini-Kies DOES NOT work with the Fascinate. All Samsung did was upload the part of their source code that they're legally responsible for in their development license. Usually source code isn't released until after a Carrier has rolled an update out but Samsung has already done it a couple times with other Galaxy S devices. I'd expect the update from Verizon to start rolling out within the next couple weeks and probably take a week to complete. It'll be OTA but they may also do like sprint and provide an update.zip that can be flashed via recovery.

i certainly hope this means it's on the way, but given the entire history of the Galaxy S line and Samsung, I'm not hopeful. I found out I qualify to get into a Thunderbolt for only 150 bucks, and if the Froyo update doesn't come by then, that's precisely what I intend to do. At this point, I don't know who is more to blame for the holdup--Verizon, Microsoft or Samsung--and I no longer care. AFAIC, they have a week to deliver Froyo, and if it doesn't happen, I'm done with Samsung for the forseeable future.
That being said, I will have gained a free 16GB Galaxy Music Player, as that's about the only use for a decommissioned Fascinate...

ha, I didn't even want to see that phone after I bought the Thunderbolt. Sold my Fascinate on Craigslist for $250 two days after posting and probably could've gotten more but was tired of looking at it.
