This is going to sound crass but Its not meant to be,but you sound like an Apple person that likes things simple. Im the opposite, give me drive letters, file system tweaks, etc and Im happy. Lock me out and put me in a sandbox like Apple does with iOS makes me feel cheated. They remove options claiming it enhances "usuability". Removing helpful features and releasing a gimped product isn't my idea of enhanced usability. And if you work around their lock outs then you're technically breaking DMCA laws. If I bought it, then I own it and should be able to do what I please with my property.
If youre happy with a pretty toy and have no desire to tinker with your equipment thats your perogative. But I like to own my devices and feel I should be allowed to do whatever I want with them without breaking some lame law that only protects corporate profits. IP laws have become the complete antithesis of what the patent office was created for - protect original work and inspire competition through creativity and innovation.
I personally love how courts are starting to refuse hearing the petty lawsuits Apple keeps dolling out as if court summons are the equivalent of AOL Sign up disks from the 1990's
Wow I went on a huge tangent..... did anyone actually read this whole post?

Actually Ive been on Android since the HTC G1 and found the GN to be the more difficult to unlock then any previous version Ive owned. Only the nexus tool kit has made it relatively straight forward recently, and even then its a mess of menus and options and hoping you have the right samsung drivers

Actually it's bootloader IS unlocked. The bootloader has nothing to do with whether or not you are rooted.

Hi ERMarshall2,
I am having a lot of the same hardware problems as you. The software is great but the hardware is lacking. I have lots of problems staying connected to networks. Just about everything works good except the phone and internet connections. Doesn't happen constantly but several times a day is getting very annoying. Never had these problem on my iPhone.

I had a BlackBerry Storm and can't say I ever had a called dropped in over 4 years of use. In the 6 months I've had this sorry excuse for a phone, I've averaged a dropped call every week to 10 days in addition to being told there was no available network in the downtown Denver area. Hopefully, anyone considering buying this device will look at these threads and look for a more viable alternaitve.

They will also see that mine has performed flawlessly..
I have had the Motorola Q, The Treo III I think it was, the Blackberry Storm, the Original Droid, Droid 2, the HTC Thunderbolt, and the Galaxy Nexus, and the GNex is by far the best phone, most reliable and outperforming phone that I have had.

comonsense101,
Actually, that's not so, the 4.4 upgrade corrected my phone rebooting itself and corrected the issues w/ the numerical pad...you'd touch 7 but it displayed another number, etc....
Since it's apparent not all Nexus are equal.... as there are variable problems w/ different carriers....the 2 problems above are the only ones I experienced. Whether it's the operator/owner, rough shipping, or left in extreme temps prior to delivery. Just like your children, don't leave electronics in the car subjected to extreme temps..... I wouldn't want (Edited content to comply with VZW Community ToS) my phone to get JB earlier and if I did (Edited content to comply with VZW Community ToS), it would be because I decided to use the phone until it died and not trade in.
It's been obvious one owner's solution is another's nightmare.....try to wait.
