Hi sammagana!

What a bizarre situation. Good thing we master the bizarre around here and find a resolution to create a new norm. Additionally, I'm very sorry to learn of these issues. So, let's jump right in the deep end and figure this out.

First, I have to start by asking how you exactly how you alter your sound settings. After all, there are two different ways. The first is by starting at the home screen, pressing the volume button, selecting the settings tools quickly, and changing your volumes. The other is by going to settings, sound, volume, and changing volumes that way. I'd like to recommend trying the route that you haven't taken yet. Additionally, have you had a chance to update your phone to the most recent software. Simply go to settings, about phone, software update, check new. Give that a shot, turn off your phone, pull the battery, and test it out. Please keep me updated with our progress.

Hello yes I do both methods you described and the phone often sets Its self on silent by its self,I have had the opportunity to upgrade the software and it didn't fix my phone ringer issue and now my phone screen flickers with the upgrade the only method that works is to restart the phone this happens everyday and is very frustrating

Hi Sammagana!

Thanks for the great info! I know how frustrating it can be to have a phone that is not working properly. I want to help. Based on all the information that you have provided us, I would recommend a Hard Reset of your device per it sounds like the software has become corrupted. A Hard Reset will attempt to repair any software corruption and reset the device back to factory defaults http://vz.to/tC9oiG. Keep me posted.

Thanks,

My issue with the latest update for the S3 is that the notification and alarm volume is real low compared to the ringtone volume or video player volume, all the volume settings are set to max in the Sound setting of the phone, I am not new to Android or smartphones, I go back to the HTC Incredible, so please Verizon explain to me why I have this issue, an NO I will not do a HARD reset, there should be no reason to do this if you guy's push out good software.

Greetings cybertec69!

As you can imagine, updates are supposed to be a sweet treat, not cause headaches as you may be experiencing now. And although my GS3 update went smoothly, we've got you covered still.

To be 100% honest, this is not currently a known issue and I've yet to see this reported. Additionally, you don't have to do a hard reset. It is however something we recommend during some cases. Based on what you're experiencing, I would recommend really just checking out your sound settings. Please go to settings > volume. From there, please toggle the settings around and test. Then, turn off your phone, turn it back and set them. Do the sounds there differ from what you hear when a notification comes through? Please update us.

I have done EVERYTHING an more, my sound volume is 1/2 that before I applied this HORRIBLE 4.1.2 upgrade that provided multi-window and other features.

I have the same issue of notification alerts being 1/2 the volume they were before the upgrade.
