Will Samsung Pay work with an Otter Box cover? Is there a best way to hold the phone on the credit card terminal?

Tried to use Samsung Pay at CVS on a new terminal and it did not work.   The Otter Box is an approved Samsung cover and is supposed to work.  Is there a special way to hold the phone that works better?  Thanks
