every US Samsung galaxy s has 2.2: except the two that have bing and are in verizons stable

While not all the Samsung Galaxy S phones in the U.S. have gotten an update to Android 2.2 Froyo, we're getting closer.  The Samsung Galaxy S Samsung Epic 4g received an update last week, and now U.S. Cellular's Samsung Mesmerize is getting all the desired features of Android 2.2 Froyo, which leaves the Samsung Fascinate and Continuum from Verizon out of the update fold.

Sorry for the clutter.  We'll try picking up after ourselves.  :smileyvery-happy:

This is the Samsung Fascinate discussion forum, not the technical support site.  That means we discuss issues related to the phone, not what is going on the world.  When you limit the discussion to the Fascinate, the Froyo update IS the most pressing issue on most of our minds.   You don't need me to tell you this since you've noticed the number of threads.

As for "real" questions, I think it is legitimate to wonder why the last Galaxy S phones without Froyo are in Verizon's stable.  I want to hear peoples opinions, rants, and theories.  It makes for some interesting and often hilarious reading.

I don't need Froyo - I think the Fascinate is a great phone with 2.1 Eclair.  But I look forward to updating my phone with new features. Until then, let's talk about it...

there are many more galaxy s phones than you seem to think there are. and, no, not all have 2.2.

see the link,  ALL EXCEPT Verizon's 2 phones have 2.2.

Therefore the holdup is

NOT Samsung

NOT Google

But to be fair to Verizon, the cobbled up mess of bing'ing our phones probablly made the update process much more difficult.

Too bad there isn't some kind of filter to block new threads with 2.2 or froyo in the title or message sections. :smileyvery-happy:

What's the big deal if there are multiple threads?  One thread for the Froyo update would take forever to read since it is the ONE pressing item on most of our minds.  Let's let all of the user decide what are in the the threads, not just the usual 7-8 who post all the time.

because it clutters things up.  people cant get real questions in.  and no its not the most pressing thing on our minds

with everything going on in the world today if the only thing that bothers you is the os on your phone, then well i envy you.

and people that really want it have already.

Interesting how people complain that there are too many threads about the lack of update, but they continue to read them.  Some of them complaining even manage to post on all of the threads.

I have froyo, but would still like an official release from Verizon.  Would much rather be able to get adequate support for a device that I pay 100+ a month for, from the company I pay, rather than some guy (which to this point very helpful) on the Internet.

Maybe there is some movement in the Froyo update? Here is a tweet from GalaxySsupport:

Now testing #Froyo with our partners at #VerizonWireless. Working to ensure great customer experience quickly as possible. ^SM

Hopefully it is soon?

I am with you.. I have it but I would have preferred to have it by OTA instead of the internet

I like the internet methods better.  Because then I don't have to redo certain things and the support is a lot better.  May be a few little rough edges but at least those developers actually work to fix it.

Thank you Runsilent;  I was concerned that my thoughts were unintelligible but you certainly understood the issues I was raising.   I started a new thread because the information I included was NEW and  changed the nature of the discussion.

I did enjoy the droid clown writings.  But he called Uncle Sammy "greedy" which is untrue.  Sammy made a big bet on galaxy s and won.  I'm happy he did, but Aunt Ver did shoot him in the foot with her bing-gun.

I'm no gambler and I stay out of Vegas, last time I went there my wife walked in on me and charlie sheen and 6 naked girls and she had no sense of humor whatsoever about the whole thing.  I'll wait for Aunt Ver to repair the bing-gun accident and take care of her business of keeping me updated.  Till then it's iced tea and Saturday night bingo - NO Vegas.

I  was recently looking at the xda site, but I could find no straightforward heading or indicator of where to locate the procedure for downloading 2.2 to the Fascinate.  Any pointers?
