Is the battery a third party battery or one that came with the device?

That's odd! How long has this been happening? What zip code is your home located in? What zip code are you traveling to when this happens? And as "hey-look" mentioned, are you using the stock battery that came with your device? Please let me know so I can further assist. Thanks!

I have the battery that came with it. It has gotten hot and shut off on me twice. I live in port saint Lucie, fl and I traveled to Melbourne, fl. Which is only about 35 minutes north of me. I had it in my purse. The other time I was in Tampa, fl. Which is 3 hrs. west of me.

My wife had a similar experience yesterday. She was in a building with no signal in various areas. When she exited a few hours later her phone was very warm and continued to display "Searching for Network" even though she was in a strong network area at that time. Evidently her GS3 had not found a Verizon wireless signal even in the better parts of the building. The phone was stuck in "Searching for Network" mode and she had to reboot it to find a network. By that time her battery was nearly depleted.

Hi Theresa099,
That's not good! We want you to have a properly working device at all times. Let's get this fixed asap! Does the device get too hot to touch? Are you using the original manufacturer wall and house charger that came with the device? After market chargers can cause the device to overheat. Are you in a particular application when the device starts to overheat and shut-off? Has there been any liquid or physical damage to the device? Keep me posted.
Thanks,
