Getting "DQA Keeps stopping" message after i did the security update. Anyone know how to fix? I have a S8 Plus
We appreciate everyone's patience while the team worked on providing us a fix. As most of you have noticed, S8/S8+ users who are having this issue should be and will be notified by Galaxy Apps for an upgrade (over the air) to address the issue.

I'm having the same issue. I've had the error twice since 15 minutes and I was not on WiFi. It's quite annoying, especially since I've only had the phone for 1 day.
I tried the force stop and it had no affect. I then changed the battery setting to MID and this seems to have stopped the DQA message.
BTW Don't buy the screen protector. You will have to HAMMER the screen to get it to respond and working with the edges like the top status bar is impossible.
It's very simple, just finish setting up Bixby and wallah problem solved. Just did it and haven't seen the message pop up again.
I'm having the same problem on my gs8. I see a lot of people talk about force stopping and or disabling it, but what's the purpose of the app and what will force stopping it do in reguards to the functionality of my phone?
the screen protector is a [Removed], I took mine off. it was a terrible design

I purchased (2) of the S8+'s. Both worked fine this morning and both had notifications for the update. Normally I never rush to do any updates on any equipment until I'm sure the update doesn't mess up something. I used bad judgement and installed the update on one of the phones. Immediately I began receiving the DQA stopped notification on the updated phone. It has nagged me all day, coming up on the screen at least twice per minute making the phone pretty much unusable.
I went to this discussion group and tried ALL of the cures. NONE of them worked until I did the following;
I opened Bixby and attempted to set it up. The error plagued me during the installation. I didn't finish the installation and decided to install my Gear S watch instead. Using GEAR, I was unable to install the watch and got a very unhelpful Error 5 message. I decided to go to the Galaxy App store to download the latest GEAR software. Spent an hour trying to figure out how to access the Galaxy App store and decided to just install the Galaxy App store APK. Keep in mind that I am still being plagued by the DQA notifications, twice every minute while doing this! I clicked on the APK I had downloaded and saw the switch to allow downloading ONE time, or if you unclicked the block you could allow downloading from unknown sources for unlimited sessions. I UNCLICKED the box and attempted my download, which failed stating it was a corrupt file. Oh well, more frustration installing the watch BUT, I notice that I have now been using the phone for 1hr without any more DQA notifications! Are they gone for good??? I hope so! I feel it had something to do with unclicking the box to allow sideloading for unlimited sessions.
I don't know how to get to that screen with the box directly but simply down any APK file and when you click on the file name to install it the phone will take you to that screen. Now If I can only install my Gear S, I would be happy.
DQA is an application that relates to the Wi-Fi. The error message will stop popping up if you disable the DQA application (it can always be turned back on later--this won't delete the app). Go to Settings, Apps, App manager. Click the menu in the top right corner and select Show system apps. Find the DQA app, click on it, and select Force stop. Since DQA is a system app, you will get a warning that this can cause errors. However, so far everything has been okay with my phone. So, I think it will be a good temporary fix until Samsung sends a patch to actually fix the problem. I hope this helps everyone. :smileyhappy:
Settings-storage-cached data-clear worked for me (at least do far).
Clearing the cache data did work for my phone for a bit, but the error message returned. Restarting a few times also helped, but again, it returned.

I spoke to Verizon using the Tech Support App that came on my S8. They said the DAQ Stop issue is a known bug with the Nougat Update on the S8. They told me to disable it. It's appearantly non-essential to operating. And will not cause issues. When I go in to the System Apps to disable it, the Disable soft key is grayed out. Only Force Stop is usable.
I have noticed it seems to happen mostly when I'm using WiFi.
Just remember, if you restart your phone after clicking Force stop, DQA will initialize again. You will need to turn DQA off again for the error message to stop popping up. :smileyhappy:
DQA cannot be disabled. The system will not let you disable the app. You
have to click Force Stop every time you restart your phone to keep the
application from running and causing the error message.
You can also turn off the Wi-Fi. It's an app related to the Wi-Fi. But,
that definitely becomes an issue if you don't have unlimited data. :smileyhappy:
I have done that. I will work as long as you remain connected to the same WiFi. If you disconnect from the current WiFi and reconnect, the app will re-launch and the error message will return.
Someone on the comments has fixed it. I'll just say it again in case not everyone got it. Just change your battery settings to Medium. This is a temporary solution until Samsung releases a patch to fix this. Doing this will take away your AOD, your performance will drop from high setting to Medium range. The problem is Wi-Fi related. Give it about 1-7 days for a new software updaste and it should be gone.
Factory reset does solve the problem.
I went through this problem last night. I chatted with VW support for about an hour and a half. Restarted the phone at least a dozen times. Force quit the app, etc. and still had the problem. The problem does seem solved now and here's what I did:
1. Do a factory Data Reset (Yes, you will loose all the apps yo have installed yourself and any data that's local to your phone)
2. Once the phone has completely restarted and before you do anything else, go to Settings/Apps/App Manager. Then hit the 3 vertical dots in the upper right hand corner and choose "Show System Apps" from the drop down menu.
3. Scroll down to DQA and tap it.
4. Tap Storage and then clear all data and the cache.
5 Restart the phone. I did this about 1;00AM today and it has been fine ever since. (10:00 PM right now)
OK. I just talked with Samsung support. Here is their solution for this DQA problem:
"Please connect the phone to charger and press and hold power button and volume down button for 10 seconds and check for results"
This should Restart your phone and fix the DQA problem. If this works for you please respond so everyone else will know.
The message stopped after I turned off the Wi-Fi and then turned it back on. It hasn't popped up since.
I've turned WiFi off several times since my S8 updated to Nougat. Sometimes the DQA Stopped message pops up a lot. Sometimes only a few times. It'll be a week or so before the Pointy Heads figure it out. But they will fix it eventually.
Get Outlook for Android<https://aka.ms/ghei36>
Or every time you turn of WiFi, and go back to the mobile network. Then turn WiFi back on.
Yeah. I get 5GB of 4G LTE a month. The files get bigger and bigger. I wouldn't say anything is unlimited.
Someone else side Verizon Tech Support says to do a Factory Data Reset. Which would put you back on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. And then have to do download all of your apps again. Won't it just automatically update to Android 7.0 Nougat again anyway?
I tried the Maintenance restart. Ie...hold the power button and volume down for 10 seconds. But I selected Normal Restart. It is went right back to the DQA Stopped notifications as soon as I turned on the WiFi again. I guess their message was select Factory Data Reset. Ugh! I don't wanna!
I had the issue yesterday since I decided to do the software update. I came online to this community threat and tried many things but the only temporary solution for me in the after noon was to change my battery settings to medium and it must have done something to that DQA app which works on wifi that it stopped appearing. After that I just went back to high performance and it was doing it all over again. I said "[Removed]" and just connected my s8 plus to my beats and watched my YouTube videos with the annoying notification the bug. But then it suddenly just STOPPED! No more spamming of that annoying DQA has stopped working.... I didn't even factory reset, nor did I call Verizon for help. Instead it just went away for me I guess I'm lucky but probably not completely safe until the new software update comes along. Give it about a week and we should have it fixed. Well at least mine is now without Samsung or Verizon's help.

Set battery to Mid.
I keep my wifi on all the time when I am in my home, and I started experiencing the problem as well. I really don't think you need to do a factory reset because It is all related to the update, because Samsung wanted to stop users from remapping the Bixby Button or what ever. This is what I did because none of the other things seemed to work.
I had Bixby disabled because I didn't want to use it. To do this, when I first set up my phone I long pressed on my home screen and turned it off / disabling it. So far so good.
Then the update came out, I hesitated on installing but did yesterday, then the error message started popping up consistently, with wi-fi on.
So this morning I long pressed on the screen re-enabled Bixby, waited a couple minutes and disabled it again and it appears to be gone. No pop up for about 45 minutes now.
Take it for what it is worth, I don't know what will happen if you power down or restart the device after performing this procedure, but if the problem continues you might have to do it all over again, until they come out with a fix.
I also just purchased in samsung plus eight I had It for 12 hours when the screen protector installed by Verizon store employee Cracked after feeling a lot of give and a bit of popping noise when I tapped screen I return to the verizon store where they up charge me for the fifty dollar glass protector as the 35 dollar was out of stock.
They updated phone and a bonus I get pop up of DQA stopped message now.
I asked the employee and after a huddled back room discussion he returned to say t was due to the Google devs update and the work around was to turn off the wifi...Really As if I can go without Wi-Fi
I have done:
- Setting power to mid- Force stop DQA
nether has worked ... I have now cleared the cache.
and the person who said that the VZ tech said to do a factory reset ,,, F%$|< that noise!!!!
Try my solution and let me know if it works it seems to be working for me, and by the way I am also experiencing the popping sound from my Glass Zagg screen protector
Even tho you disable bixby from swiping, it is still active on the side button.
BUt I tried your idea of enabling and disabling to see what happens.
Congrats on your new phone Michael. We want to ensure you enjoy your new phone to the fullest without any error messages. Can you please try the following work around to resolve the error message you are receiving.
1. Can you try checking the deviceperformance mode by tapping on settingsperformance mode<set to optimized.
GO TO setting
Go to Battery
Set batter settings to MID
Save it and git out.
The DQA errors will go away
Hope this helps
The only fix that I have found to work is, go to Wi-Fi settings, forget your Wi-Fi that you are connected to, then reconnect to it. I done that and haven't had it to pop up since. Hope this work for the rest of yall.
Mine did it too..my wife's didnt get that annoying box..called Verizon tech, went into app manager, found it, shut off any data to it..worked..so far no [Removed] box..hope Samsung makes a patch for it..

Here is the answer to solve the problem. It will cost you a $50. Get a program from Google play called BK disabler. Disable DNA in the system apps. Problem resolved. Disabling that program did not create a problem for my phone
Yeah right! I'm not paying $50 to fix a bug on a brand new phone. They will fix the bug at their considerable cost. You know, having all those Pointy Head software and hardware people working on it until it's resolved!
I have two S8+. Both have been updated, one works perfectly, the other has data issue. I have tried the fixes listed to no avail. Seems that Bluetooth can also trigger when Wi-Fi not on.
I did compare information on both phones in app manager, dqa on working phone is using 56.00KB and on the phone with repeated errors it is only using 28.00KB. Both show same version of dqa being 1.1.13-9
Samsung/Verizon I hope this helps, if you need more information feel free to contact me to talk me through finding the other information that you might need.
I have talked to both Verizon Wireless and Samsung and here's what surprised me:
My Verizon Wireless Chat was early Saturday morning and the tech I was talking to said that she had never heard of this problem.
My chat with Samsung was Saturday night and the Tech I talked to there said that she had only heard of it once.
First of all I think the statements from both of these companies is[Removed]. That have to be very aware of it by this time. I think we need everybody on this forum to chat/call/email both companies and inundate them with requests for a fix for this problem. Right now it seems that they hare denying the problem. Let's wake them up!
In my opinion, they're not asleep. It's a kind of damage control. And a gamble. They had the Galaxy Note 7 Battery Fires last year. That was a huge PR nightmare for Samsung. Lot's of egg on the face. They even have commercials on TV, talking specifically about how safe their batteries are. 8 point safety checks, and all that. You better believe that Samsung is working on this issue night and day 24/7! Even though they don't need any more egg on their face. This is really just an inconvenience for Galaxy S8 users. It's a bug caused by a software update. Small potatoes, but potentially, more bad PR. With iPhone sales dropping, Samsung doesn't need to help the competition.
I have a relative that works in customer service for Verizon. You'd better believe that Verizon knows about this issue. And they are working feverishly to help correct it! I'm near Seattle. They're call centers have been getting blown up with calls since Friday evening when the issue first surfaced.
But at the end of the day, neither Verizon, or Samsung write the Android OS Software. So those are the people that have to some up with the update. And Verizon and Samsung will just come up with whatever temporary bandaid until that update is released.
Well, I never have my Wi-Fi on and I'm getting the error message as well .
Word has it using Bluetooth also causes the DQA Keeps Stopping error.
Please provide this thread frequent updates on fix. Otherwise, you're going to get returns. Why oh why doesn't Verizon test their releases?
It's not carrier-specific, i.e.:
http://www.androidauthority.com/fix-galaxy-s8-dqa-keeps-stopping-error-message-766402/
I've tried all the suggested fixes, even the ones Samsung offered, but the only thing that has worked for me was simply turning off the notifications from this app.
Go to Settings
Choose Apps
Choose App Manager
Select the three dots in the upper right hand corner of the screen
Choose show system apps
Scroll down to 'DQA' and select
Go to App Settings / Notifications
In 'On Lock Screen' toggle it off
Back on the DQA app page, choose Mobile data
Uncheck 'Allow background data usage' - so that you won't be burning through data when this thing is not giving you notifications.
I haven't had a single popup since I set notifications to off. It's not a real fix, but it should keep it from popping up until they do get it fixed.
DGREENAW You never tried the BK Disabler. It works every time for sure. My settings were like yours already and it popped up. Then I forgot the networks and no pop ups. You only disabled locked screen notifications. There is no way to disable all notifications while using the phone that I know of .
Reset to factory solved it.
I was under the impression that the BK disabler was not free, so, no, I didn't try it. I've had this phone all of three days so I'm not inclined to buy something else to make it work the way it should have out of the box. I already got taken by the crooks who made the tempered glass screen protector - $35 that only had adhesive on the edges and didn't last the day out. I didn't feel like spending even $1.50 more.
Not saying this is a perfect fix, but it was popping up all the time and now it's not. *shrug* I'm hoping that the next update will fix it for real.
It was really, really disappointing. I hoped so much that Samsung will put efforts to make release flawless.....Well they are really NOT USA manufacturer/developer. Although, since I'm S/W engineer I can say that I can give them couple of days to fix it otherwise, really, I'll switch to iphone for good.....Bottom line, DQA is an application (I don't care who is exactly wrote it...). It appears as "System Application" and, unfortunately, "preinstalled", which means - you can't disable it without special apps.
So, solutions are:
1) Purchase that app that everybody talking about for $1.50 and disable it for good. It appears also that if that message popped up several times and you didn't close each one than it is STILL IN MEMORY so it is not disabled unless you reboot or close EACH mesage.
2) Also as mentioned above, just "force to stop" (Look for instruction in some msgs abobe). Trust me - it will work. Just as I mentioned, EACH message has to be closed and then "force to close". Personally, I had to "force to close" several times. This approach is valid only on current session. Once you restart - it will appear again (sure if you didn't use above, purchased "disabler" since this app is not allow siple disable).
I chose to turn DQA each time I reboot since if Samsung doesn't fix it in 14 gays, as I mentioned, I return this peace of art and switch to iphone. Period.
I got VZWSupport DM on Twitter after a complaint. They responded quickly but what they had me do DID NOT work. However, this step did work for me:
The DQA issue only seems to happen when I was using Wifi. This is the wifi settings that was transferred using the Samsung switch app when moving from my S6 to S8.
*ACTION STEP* When I "forgot" my wifi setup and reentered the password I have not had the DQA error so far. Also tested it at a friends house I never connected to and did not have the DQA error.
Here is what Verizon (@VZWSupport) got back to me quickly with to try
1)Go to the "DQA" app in app manager, force stop, go in storage and "manage storage" to clear the cache. I could not get into "manage storage" without it crashing DQA. When that failed.
2)Go into safe mode (hold power off button until "safe mode" appears, ~10sec) then push "safe mode" and retry #1. Failed in the same way.
They said Samsung is working on a fix and to watch their update page for when an update is released."DQA Keeps stopping" Error MessageRe: "DQA Keeps Stopping" error message"DQA has stopped" issueRe: "DQA has stopped" issue
I have no doubt that you are totally correct in your statement.
Today I went back to BestBuy and spoke with a (semi) friend of mine there. His only job over the last few days has been to get new S8 and S8+ phones into customers' hands. He said he had never seen this problem before.
I then went to the Samsung guy who had the blue Samsung shirt on. When I talked with him, always referred to Samsung as "we". He also said that he had not seen this problem before.
So either:
They have not seen it and/ot have not been informed by Samsung of this problem
or
They are all lying and in damage control mode.
I could be that Samsung has not put this information into the hands of the field rep's yet and being so busy selling, they have indeed not heard of it.
I'm glad to hear that your relative is on top of this and that the company is as well. Hopefully we'll have a real fix soon.
Thanks for the info!
Interesting. You'd think people would come back saying "What the heck, this is new!!" Guess everyone wears blinders.
However, The VZ support and Samsung knows about the issue from the
people I have talked to on Twitter. Hope what worked for me works for you.

I have tried everything posted here
- force stop DQA - keeps starting up
- forget wifi wep and add again,
- turn off Bluetooth
- restart phone
- clear cache
- disabled data usage on DQA
Im not going to pay for an app to band aid this, nor am I going to do a factory reset.
Samsung & Verizon need to make a fix.
Well the problem is still here. Turned the phone this am, connected to
Wi-Fi and I got two errors within a minute of using the pohone this
morning.
Turned off Wi-Fi and waiting. Then will try the background data idea.
Anybody tried to remove all of their wifi addresses, by saying forget till there are not anymore wifi addresses
Then turn wifi off and turn wifi back on so it willl search for a wifi address.
And when the new wifi address for you pops up, log on to it.
And when you leave your wifi area. Turn wifi off.
It seems every wifi place you drive threw it adds it to yer wifi on your phone.
Make sure your Samsung account is setup in Samsung and Samsung Plus and everything else is setup on your phone.
Had this problem yesterday on my wifes phone and It corrected itself by what I'm sayin.
Go into accounts and make sure that they are all setup too.
I only removed two from my list.
*New info* when wifi off and turned on "High Performance" mode the DQA
error comes back!
On Mon, Apr 24, 2017 at 9:03 AM, cardboard66 <forums@verizonwireless.com>
Delete each wifi address of wifi setting you have on your phone by touching on the wifi address and say forgit it.
When you forgit it, it deletes it.
Delete each wifi address till they are not anymore left. Including the wifi address you are logged in to.
Then turn wifi off and back on. Log back into yer wifi address and put the password back in.
Make sure all of your accounts are signed into in yer accounts. Including syncing them.
Make sure your signed into your samsung account and samsung Plus.
And google.
I did this yesterday and it got rid of the DQA message on my wifes phone.
When you leave your wifi area. Turn wifi off on yer phone.
It seems every place you drive threw with wifi it adds it to your wifi on your phone.
Here is how I fixed it:
That stopped it for me. I rebooted several times and it has not returned.
Give it a try!
How about somebody from Verizon step up and tell us what's going on to stop
this error.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I know you all probably don't want to here this, but to really fix this issue just go ahead and do the factory reset, It works, I hesitated on doing it myself but the others options were only temporary. I use to work for US Cellular as a tech and when issues arose like this this first thing we did was usually do a factory reset anyway. This is probably what Verizon and the other carriers having this issue will have you do as an interim step anyway.
This method actually works, since I did mine no DQA popups and I have my device on WiFi only while in my home.
Let me know if it works for you.
I am also a software developer and I think the package was corrupted in someway. For those experiencing the problem before doing the factory reset, have a look at the DQA system package file, it should be something like 28kb, then after doing the Factory reset it will be 56kb.
Have you tried touching your screen and pressing till it downsizes your screen.
Swipe once to the left and at the top of the screen turning the switch to turn Bigby on ?
justcallmeedm, We know how frustrating this error is. Here are some steps to try: 1. Check Device performance Mode Settings > Performance Mode > Set to Optimized 2. Clear DQA App Data Settings > Apps > App Manager > Click the 3 dots at the top right of the screen > Click show system apps > Find DQA > Click Force Stop > Than click Storage > Manage Storage > Clear Data > Then reboot the device 3. Disabling allowing background data for the DQA application. Go to the App Manager under settings > Use the drop-down menu in the top right to enable "Show System Apps" > Find DQA from the app list > Select "Data Usage" > Disable "Allow background data usage"

you all keep saying "Than click Storage > Manage Storage > Clear Data >

I did the Factory Data Reset yesterday. Verizon must've stopped pushing the Security Update. Because it hasn't updated again. And I forgot to set it up to notify me so I o can manually approve it once they patch the bug.
I did the FDR two days ago. No issues yet. Everything is working just fine.
I did the FDR, too. No issues.
QUESTION:

FDR worked for me, too.
QUESTION: New to the android. What/how do you get voicemail messages
without using a pay app?
We don't blame you for not wanting to spend additional funds. Did you try the steps provided going through settings? You will have this device for a while so we want to make sure you are happy.
Dolores
The real world is you expect things. And you assume things.
But come to reality.
The phones didn't come with marshmellow.
They came with the N operating system.
And there is a bug .
This ain't the 1st bug.
And it will not be the last.
I hate it as bad as everybody else.
I worked on it till I got the error message to go away.
Don't know if a corporate Verizon store can fix the error for you, it you don't know how to turn it off.
But its worth a try.
Only two ways:
-Turn of wifi; worked for me (yes there is cost but talk to VZ about paying
for it)
-Factory Reset phone and DO NOT update until the patch. Many say this works.
Both not real solutions but, that is all we have right now.
