transfer prepaid number to smartphone

i have this samsung galaxy s and i was wondering if there was anyway to take my number from my crappy prepaid phone to the smartphone i have?

I'm sure we can get your services squared away! Are you looking at carrying your prepaid phone number over to your current Galaxy S device? If so, that is called Local Number Portability, and in most cases the number can be ported over. Keep me updated.
