Bluetooth device won't pair after last update

I use a Scosche Rhythm armband heart rate monitor that has worked with my Samsung note 4 for the last year.  With the last update, the device will no longer pair.  It recognizes the device, but won't establish a connection.  Contacted Samsung, went thru several suggestions and would not pair.  Suggested a hard reset of the phone.  Before I do that, any other options?
