Broke my Screen on Galaxy Note 2 Need help recovering

I recently cracked my screen after dropping my phone a couple of weeks after getting it (and being on Verizon).  I say all this because Asurion refused to consider my claim because I had not had enough usage of my device.  I'm contacting Asurion about this but also would like some feedback from some users on the forum.

So, question:

Should I question this claim rejection over lack of usage when I've only had the device for two weeks prior to the incident?
