Call Waiting is NOT Normal...what gives???

For the Note 3, GS4 and HTC One M8 the call waiting feature is not acceptable.  We have been told that the Verizon has screwed with the call waiting feature that normally comes with just about all the phones, except the iPhone.

When you're on the phone and someone else calls, we can answer the call (original person is on  hold).  We can switch between both the 1st and 2nd person without problems.  The issue is when we go to hang up on the first or second person.  It either hangs up on both, or one will call back.

How is this even remotely acceptable?????

Does anyone know when an update will be made to change this ridiculous feature. It is completely unacceptable.

(And if you're a VZW support person reading this, do NOT ask me for my personal info to resolve this.  I have heard from countless people (including phone support and corporate store support) that this is a VERIZON issue... not a singular phone issue.)

Thanks,
S

You are correct on the way the phone reacts when using call waiting.  I just let the party hang up on the other end and go back to the party I have on hold.  If I try to hang up it will drop both calls but the party you have on hold will auto call back.  I don't hang up unless I am done with both calls.  Both calls will show on the screen till you finally end both calls.  I know this has never seem correct but it is the way I have seen it with the android phones I have been using for a while now.  Never used an Iphone or windows phone or BB and never plan to use them.  Good luck with getting VZW to fix your issue with their call waiting.

tasteandsmell,

We want you to have a fully functional call waiting feature. Have you always had this issue with call waiting on other types of phones? What type of device do you have specifically?

You know the funny part is if you just push 1 or 2 on the dial pad it disconnects that caller and not both.

Don't know if that is the way it is supposed to work but it worked that way for me. Strange. Yeah I use an iPhone 5s now

Good Luck

Thanks Elector I will try that the next time I need to hang up from a call waiting call.  Since you use the iphone that may be different for those of us using android?

Could be. I just thought it was funny that hitting one or two alternated the calls.

Strange

I use an iPhone 5 and the same thing happens to me.  When I was on AT&T, I could add multiple calls by hitting the plus sign on my iPhone.  With Verizon, I can add only 1 additional caller.  On AT&T, when I was talking to someone and another call came in, I could answer that call and my original call would be put on hold.  I then could make a 3 way call or go back and forth between the other 2 calls.  On Verizon, I cannot add the new caller and I cannot go from one caller to another call.  I also cannot answer the new call without disconnecting the first call.  When you're actually trying to run a business - this becomes a major pain.  Verizon - you say you want a fully functional call waiting feature - can you help me with this problem?  Thank you.

The same thing happens to me too. I never understood why the swap button was there until tech support told me how to switch between calls... Really??? I had a galaxy note 2 through T Mobile and I did not have any issues switching through my call waiting or making a conference call. It was easy to use. A friend of mine have a note 3 through AT&T and they said they don't have any issues answering calls. A pop up bubble asks them if they want to hang up with the current person or put them on hold. That's how my T Mobile worked. This is ridiculous. And tech support said this issue will change after the new android update... No changes I see with the call waiting. Actually I think it got worse. This is really putting a damper on my business as well. I have better coverage with Verizon but call issues. T Mobile was coverage issue's but using call waiting for conference call was simple. Not hanging up on parties or person that was on hold. seriously thinking about going back to T Mobile. at least I can run a business better by not missing any calls or mistakenly hanging up on someone I've been trying to call all day.. They said it could get better... But like I said I don't see no change..
