Any app i want to download asks for permission to access phone call, read status and identify. Anyone know what this means or any concerns with it?

This is a little bit older article, but it is a good write-up about what the those permissions mean.

What's the app?
What does it do?
Do it need access to that information in order to function?
any app i've tried to download asks for it, most recent is Fox News Tampa Bay Fl.
Almost all apps ask for permissions of some sort, such as location, use of phone, and so on. Some apps do not ask for any specific permission. It all depends on how much you are trusting and how bad you want or need the apps. For most apps it's no big thing. There are some apps I wanted but did not like what permissions they were asking so did not take them. Hope this answers your question.

Very good article. Thanks for sharing it with us. It may be an older article, but it's still relevant.
The author wrote another one related to this one about a year later that goes more in depth on how the permissions work.
