I closed both my accounts with them too. This is terrible , we should start
tweeting about this to both Samsung and Verizon... like Apples antenna
gate. Samsung should just release it for all builds and not have the
carriers involved, if they are involved then there should time frames
regarding this. Alternatively when each phone is sold there should be a
guarantee of upgrades and support for x number of years, so that we can all
be assured of appropriate upgrades and know what we are getting into.
I think no one is going to take it seriously we are tiny community android note 4 verizon customers. There has to be an uproar or they will never respond or fix issues. remember Apple antennagate.
I would tweet @SamsungMobileUS @verizon saying. I have a Verizon note 4 and will never recommend any Verizon and Samsung products because of all the issues with their hardware and lack of updates.
Its Public Shaming that will get them to respond ... nothing else
That's been going on for 6 years on the Android end. Sales numbers says otherwise for all Android products. The numbers don't lie.
Not to mention Apple takes full responsibility and doesn't nickle and dime carriers for money to support their own products. On the other hand manufacturers will gladly have you blame a carrier and switch carriers and buy one of their products again as they only make money on sale of devices and nothing residual.
Honestly handing out a $1 bumpers is hardly a dent in Apples wallet and bottom line when ti comes to antenna"gate". They didn't replace any phones or update any phones because of it.
It got them to acknowledge the problem. And it shamed them into action.
Class actions would be ideal in this scenario.. but the carriers have
already assured that this will never happen because of arbitration clauses
that we all have to agree to. Verizon and Samsung would have been quick to
resolve "certification" [removal required by the Verizon Wireless Terms of Service] release updates if several millions were
on the line plus bad publicity from these were on the line.
Ultimately it was bad publicity that got apple to act.
I for one am done with Verizon and Samsung..... this needs to be
communicated to both in droves..... in these forums they can see our
complaints but they CHOOSE to ignore it.
CA on devices got thrown out of court long before that class and what the supreme Court judged ruled. Even though there is carrier branding on the device it is still produced and sold by the manufacturer. Doing a CA lawsuit against BestBuy for buying a Nintendo Wii U wouldn't do any good right? Same concept and principles. This is the reason why Europe has better support. We try and blame the carrier for everything while they blame manufacturers. There's some food for thought for you. Here's a little more. Just out Motorola and their sales numbers between the US and Europe. Motorola did it to themselves and why they were sold off. Motorola couldn't sustain the losses they got from Europe.
Apple never official acknowledged the problem. They gave them away to stop the nagging. Like a little kid nagging their parents and they give them a piece of candy to occupy them. They pretty much said "if you think you have a problem then we'll give you a free bumper" they never said "we do have a problem, and we'll give you this to accommodate or fix the problem". It's all in the wording. One people could imply they did, but they never did. The other is admission and a fix.
Yes I had the phone and I also watched it closely and my phone never had the problem. Apple is great at word play. Look at all the Android guys thinking Apple said they invented stuff. They never said that. If you ever watch their presentations they always compare their own products. So between their own products everything they say is true but of course people like to imply things that were never really said 🙂

Can you cite where CA was thrown out? And when carriers started adding
arbitration clauses.
Arbitration clauses are the primary reason that they can get away with it.
If a hundred Note 4 users are able to certify as a class that they cannot
use their phones, I am sure that Verizon and Samsung would be quick to fix.
Also Best Buy doesn't tweak the software of the Wii to add their [removal required by the Verizon Wireless Terms of Service]
Also new Wii Updates and games done have to go through " certification" by
best buy before the Wii is updated or games are updated.
the issue is different.
The best way to deal with it prohibit carriers form participating in the
update process completely. Unlocked all the way like Europe is the best
way. Make no mistake Verizon is not doing me a favor by " certifying " the
update, they are in it to make sure that they have all the control....
