Galaxy note 4 problems

I just recently got the note 4 from the s4, I was really excited about my new phone but I'm having all kinds of problems. It  seems to have lag even as I'm typing this the words are slow to show up on the phone, I get a pop up like every 5 minutes saying "unfortunately contacts has stopped" I have no idea why. My Google play store won't update or download unless I  shut off my WiFi connection. It keeps saying that I have 2 cloud accounts and I should merge them. And when I linked my Google account my calender with all my appts didn't sync. I'm so frustrated with this phone!! I don't know if I should do a factory reset or return the damn thing and get something else. Someone please help me!?!?

None of that is normal behavior for the Note 4.  I recently upgraded from the S4 to the Note 4 as well and it is extremely fast compared to the S4 everything from web browsing to software updates etc.  as it should be.  I would first try booting safe mode and see if it behaves properly.

Also go into settings->system update and make sure you have the latest software version.

  1. With the Galaxy Note 4 powered off, press and hold the “Volume Down” button while pressing and holding the “Power” button to turn on the device.
  2. Once the device turns on, release the Power button, but continue to hold “Volume Down“.
  3. Release “Volume Down” when the Home screen loads.

If it runs as expected in safe mode then I would go ahead and do a factory reset, if you are still experiencing issues then you have a rogue app causing problems and you'll have to start playing roulette to figure out which one.

If in safe mode it still isn't working right you have a defective device.

I've had my Note4 since October 2014.  I have not had any of the problems you've described.

When you get the problems fixed maybe consider being able to scan apps for malware, virus problems etc.  Maybe also check for potentially dangerous websites. Just as a way to protect your phone from future problems.

I am having the same issue with typing.  There's a pause before the letters typed will show up...this is really annoying me .  I have done the factory data reset but it still did not resolve the issue.  I think it could be a physical defect with sensors or something...also everything seems to lag....I think there's quite a few people having the same issue...Samsung needs to do something about it...

If you copied your applications over from your other Android phone (if any), make sure they are up to date. I would also make sure that any application that claims to be a "battery saver" or a "Phone cleaner" is uninstalled or disabled for a while. The same goes with Task Killers (Just get rid of these).
