How do I check voice mail from another device?

How can I check my voicemail from another phone? It is just the standard phone vm btw. I have no service at home and need to check voicemails from my home phone. I tried calling and pressing * during the greeting but it said "voicemail full" and ended the call. Hell!! TIA 🙂

- tap # to interrupt your greeting

- enter your password and tap #
