Marshmellow Update for Note 4

When will Verizon get off the dime to update the software on the Note 4?  I'm a former telecom executive who has owned several cell phones over the past 20 years with three major carriers.  This tardy and uncommunicative treatment is unprecedented in my opinion.  I switched to Verizon last October 2014 and it is very unlikely that I will stay with them next October. They may have the best network...but their customer relations and responsiveness is the pits (I cleaned it up).

Whenever Samsung gets off their "dime". Verizon Wireless can't control when Samsung completes the update.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Low level Samsung reps know Jack... They say whatever to get you off the phone, because they can never say exactly what's going on. Their little computers they use won't have the information. Get something from upper management or even the actual development team to put their name on the claim then it will have any real clout.

Yes and it's costs money for Verizon to ensure it comes out timely, we all paid. This is the experience sold to us. Sprint is basically dead and they got it out first. BTW a simple we are skipping 5.1.1 is fine. Nope we just get to feel ripped while note 5 owners get the experience we payed for already.

They also had the most problems and most people left them. Also Samsung doesn't release the update all at once to carriers like their reps say. Get something from a CEO or someone from the development team. That will have more clout but NONE of them will talk to you to give you the truth. They as re better off hiding behind the carrier. You get pissed at the carrier and switch carrier. What are the chances you buy another Samsung? Very high and so they made a sale for doing nothing literally.

According to NY Corporate, you won't see an update for  the Note 4 until Note 5 sales improve. Gotta love it!

I, personally, will not even consider getting the Note 5 (or the S6 or any of the variations of the S6) because Samsung (in my opinion) screwed themselves when they decided to remove the SD card slot and put in a non-removable battery.  I am betting there are a lot of people out there that may feel the same way and that is possibly why the sales for the Note 5 are down.

Sales are down because people are stuck on the fact contracts are gone more than those being removed. AT&T was the last carrier to remove contracts and it comes in 10 days for phones. Now people have incentive to keep their phones longer and upgrade less. Also gives incentive for manufacturers to find new ways to get people to buy or lose money because if less people buying the less they make. If you watched the trends all sales have overall declined in pace since T-Mobile dropped contracts. People now are looking for budget devices like the Moto G, and Zenphones.

We have two Galaxy Note 4 smartphones, both purchased around the end of May or early June 2015. They immediately updated to Android 5.0.1 as part of the phone's initial setup. For the most part they have worked well. The two issues we have been dealing with from the date of purchase are poor signal strength and borderline unusable bluetooth. Having scoured forums on the internet (including this one) and tried every suggestion offered, we have concluded that the problem is Android 5.0.1. This, our first experience owning Android phones has taught us that we should NEVER buy phones from any party that does not own the platform. In the future, we will buy iPhones (unlikely) or Nexus phones (very likely). If those phones support Verizon's network, great. If not, we will change carriers. Never again will we deal with the slow updates and finger pointing that we have witnessed with these phones. These phones are great hardware, and it would be a shame to lose the S-Pen, but they are hampered by a buggy version of Android.
