I am not returning Note 7 unless Verizon/Samsung make it mandatory because only 0.002% Phone may be defective if it's not less!!!!!!!!!! My New and replacement Note 7 doesn't exhibit  any kind of problem at all...........

Is it only a "recommendation" as of today? From Samsung? Just doing it to cover their legal matters?

This is not an official US regulated recall initiatives, right?

Just a note: I personally took care of this replacement Note7 really well; which i charged it (first time) on top of an ice-pack; so that it won't get overheated. I know overheat was a big negative for "any" kind of batteries in general. (Labtop, cellphone, etc). Battery will get deteriorated if it ever overheated.

Well, too bad i guess this will turn into a recall pretty soon.  😕

Samsung is HALTING production meaning there will eventually be ZERO support on this phone.  Why would you keep a $900 unsupported phone that won't be updated?

This just makes me so mad because there is nothing wrong with my phone. It's working better than any phone I've ever had. I think the latest complaints of over head are totally bogus. Just my thoughts and how mad I am. Samsung is getting a bad rap on this one. Dang it all, tablets heat up hotter than this phone.

Prdator7, I feel the same way. BUT, I invested in Gear VR and Oculus just messaged me they are dropping all support for the Note7. Verizon has advised the same. Now if TSA agent at an airport confiscated my phone I would not have a leg to stand on. So I whimp out and get a replacement.

I traded in a perfectly good Galaxy Note 5 for the Note 7. Received $300 back and paid the difference of $565. To get back the same Note 5 costs $795. If I kept my Note 5 it would have cost me $0. So for me to be back in the same position I was before the Note 7 fiasco I am out $565 if I trade in for another Note 5. This is outrageous. Simply ludicrous. There must be a class action lawsuit here. I'd be fine if Verizon will give me back $565 and a Note 5.

I think your stated percentage is too high, unless Samsung hasn't been forthcoming.  I have heard there were incidents with 3 phones is US, 2 in Korea, and 1 in Taiwan.  That's it.  If there is more, please let us know. I also still don't understand why the media is not mentioning all the other devices such as other Samsung phones, iPhones, iPods, laptops and other portable items that use these batteries.  It is my understanding that these items all caught fire numerous times.  But the media doesn't take about these items including the newest iPhone 7.  More importantly, I called Verizon twice today and both representatives agreed with one another saying that the phones would be supported by Verizon, Samsung, and Google (for updates and security updates).  I don't know why customers keep writing that they won't support the phone.  That is not what I heard from Verizon directly by 2 different individuals.  One rep said that if you would feel more comfortable to exchange it please do so, if not you can keep it.  The reps both said this at two completely different times of the day.  The other rep went as far as saying his friend had the Note 7 and she is not exchanging hers.  I asked what carrier she is with and he responded "Verizon".  I repeated myself to both representatives numerous times that I don't have to turn my phone in and it will be supported and they both repeatedly said yes the Note 7 will be supported.  I haven't 100% decided what I am going to do.  My main issue involves with losing my annual upgrade. I don't want to be locked in. If they were willing to honor my annual upgrade with the S7 Edge, Pixel XL, or LG V20, I would consider changing my phone.  Then again they don't even know when they are coming out with the LG V20 (yet all the other major carriers have already announced their details, which I find peculiar).  However right now they won't honor it.  They both said things can change and they may add the annual upgrade to any or all of thsee phones in the future and I should keep checking.  I want the S Pen and a SD card, so if Samsung comes out with a Note 8 (or whatever they call the next version that they have to do extensive testing) I don't want to be locked into another phone.  It is completely dead wrong of Samsung and Verizon not to honor this, especially on the S7 Edge (since that phone originally had the annual upgrade on it, but it was taken away around 9/9 or 9/10).  This is not OUR FAULT and I could've switched to the S7 Edge instead of getting the "safe" replacement Note 7 before Verizon took away the annual upgrade on the phone.  If Samsung and Verizon are honorable businesses and want to do the right thing they NEED to work with us and make sure we have the option to get back into whatever the next Note is without being penalized by having to pay the full price of the phone.
