No More Note 7 and now what?

First of all I traded in a Note 4 to do an early upgrade to get the Note 7 (next big thing), so now I kissed my Note 4 down the drain for nothing.  I didn't get anything for trade in since it was for early upgrade trade.  Now I have to return my Note 7 and get something else when I couldn't have still used my Note 4 til maybe the Galaxy S8 comes out early next year.

Now the Galaxy S7 Edge Silver is out of stock online @ Verizon Wireless and I am left with using an explosive Note 7 (though no heating problems, so don't worry).  I wonder if I can purchase the S7 Edge from Best Buy as upgrade on the same line of the Note 7 and then return the Note 7 to Verizon, but I don't know.  Also when do I get the refund for the tax I initially paid for the Note 7?

I'm in the same boat.  I bought my wife and I both note 7's.  I hadn't upgraded in almost a decade and it was finally time, so after tons of deliberation I landed on the note and now this.  At this point, I am thinking the new pixel, and have asked that question of VZN with no response.  Given this debacle, you would think that VZN would make it easy to get whatever we wanted and make up the difference as the note was at the highest price point for devices.  Don't want to bash them, but with the emerging importance, high cost and how integrated they have become in our lives, I just wish I wasn't being made to feel as if it's no big deal by the carrier.

I would be content to wait for the note 8 , if they call it that. or wait for the rumored S8plus ... but the problem is that I'm being forced into a downgrade " not an upgrade like they are calling it"  to another phone that I don't want and I will be tied into a new two year contract and wont be able to upgrade when the 8's are released. all I want is for my contract to be reset back to where it was before I got the note 7 , which was upgrade eligible. so I can get the new phones when they are available.

Given that at some point I would be forced to return the Note 7, I ordered the S7 Edge, but paid Full Price so I won't be tied down to a payment plan.  That way I can trade it in with some kind of promotion when the NEXT BIG THING comes out next year.  I know that I would have probably gotten a better deal waiting for BLACK FRIDAY, but again those deals are on contract or payment plan.  The sad part of this whole thing is that I could've stayed using my Note 4 and wait for the S8 variant next year.

Oh well, I will be getting my S7 Edge tomorrow along with the special kit to return the Note 7 and may it R.I.P.

There is only one problem with hanging on to your Note 7 till the "next big thing" comes out.  Verizon will be shutting the phones down shortly.  For Recall V1.0, my cell service was shut off on Sept 20th to "encourage" customers to exchange the phone.  Never mind that the replacement Note 7's were not available till the next day.

Verizon customer service told me they will discontinue allowing customers using Note 7's to make calls "shortly"
