Dlindsey22, we always want to help make sure your device is up to date. On your Note 3 phone, can you tell us what is the current software version that you're running? You can find it by going into Settings > About Phone > Baseband Version. Also, can you tell us what steps you've been taking to go through the software update before you get to this error code? These additional details would be greatly appreciated.

If you try accessing the Play Store or update apps, do you get the 402 error as well, or is it only when trying to do a system update?

It is lollipop 5.0 and I have went to the settings and tried to update it

that way on cellular connection and then on WiFi and it tells me error on

the start up screen then says system failed to update error 402.

Dlindsey22, let us help you get your Note 3 Software updated. Based on the error code you have provided, your phone is not able to update due to the Wi-Fi signal strength. In order for the phone to update a strong Wi-Fi connection is needed. Have you attempted the update on a different Wi-Fi connection?

Keep us posted.
