Note 7 forced recall and upgrade

So I patiently waited to upgrade to the Note 7 (had the Note 3), recall happened and i exchanged for another Note 7 which was also recalled. So i was forced to return it and got the S7 Edge. Of course, I did NOT want the S7 Edge to begin with. Let's say that the Note 8 is released next year and I want it. I would be ineligible because it would be too soon because i was forced to get a phone I did not want to upgrade too. What will Verizon do (or even Samsung) knowing that Note 7 owners were forced to upgrade a line with a phone they didn't even want?

Wouldn't it be fair if all Edge payments made to the S7 Edge would go towards the phone i wanted and not to the one i was forced to get due to the Note 7 recall?

Did you still have the Note 3?

The option to take a full refund and go back to an old phone was available.

Its like if you ask the bank to cancel your current loan on an escort because the dealership recalled a lemon Mustang.   It isn't any of the carriers fault.

If Samsung makes an offer, great.  But the carriers are not obligated to wipe your payments so you can upgrade at no cost.

You always have the option to pay off your Device payments, sell the phone and upgrade on a new Device payment plan.

I don't see any reason for the carriers to make amends.   That is totally on Samsung.    Any promtion we see on their phones will have to be Samsung sponsored.

Don't forget about those on a 2 Year upgrade that paid the same $400 ($300 + Tax + Upgrade) for the S7 Edge that has been out for 9 months. Had to blow all that money on a phone I didn't want and now I have no upgrade till 10/18. What a sham!...PS. - A month later and still no refund for the Note 7. Nice work Verizon.

Are we out of contract or just available for an upgrade? I am being told my upgrade reverted back but I am still under contract as to when I got the second Note7 replacement. No one at verizon has answered this question

If you have a new phone in hand, even if it isn't the one you wanted, you are either in contract or under a device payment plan.

The information should be on your bill.

If you went back to an old phone, your line should have its upgrade status restored.

Anyone had the option to use device payments, rather than a contract, if they wanted to bail out after one year.

(Verizon needs to kill off contracts for good. this is rediculous.)

But I don't have a new phone. I reactivated my old Note3. but my contract date still states 2 years from Nov when I got the second note7. why am I under a new contract with an old note3? shouldn't my contract be null also until I upgrade to the next new device?

And it's going to show that. There is no magic "switch" that automatically changes the date back. A lot of reps were doing that years ago and abusing the system. A manager now has the ability to just override the date if you need to get a new phone.

I can't wait for contracts to be a thing of the past.

If youre back on an old phone due to returning the recall, the should have reset your upgrade status.

Complain.
