I found this in the Q & A section Can I upgrade a smartphone that's on a device payment agreement while I’m getting BOGO credits?

You can pay off or upgrade the "buy one" device as soon as the bill credits start on the second device (the “get one” device) and you will still keep your BOGO credits.

However, if you pay off or do an early upgrade for the second (the “get one” device), you lose any remaining BOGO credits.

To get all 24 BOGO bill credits, the "buy one" 1 device’s line must be active for at least 6 months and the "get one" device's line must stay active for 24 months.

What is your question after reading that portion of the BOGO promotion FAQs?

My buy 1 get 1 phone are exactly the same phone. The one I want to upgrade is the get one. Can this be done without losing credits

No. The upgrade can't occur on the line associated with the Get One portion of the promotion otherwise you will lose the bill credits. Additionally to qualify for the upgrade, you will need to pay off the total device payment agreement balance including the bill credits you haven't received yet in order to start a new device payment agreement on that line of service.

Then what do they mean by this?

The line with the upgrade that isn't receiving the bill credits can be paid off without affecting the other line's bill credits.

If you want to upgrade a current BOGO pair of phones, you have to pay off the BUY phone after you had it for 6 months.

Paying off the BUY before before 6 months gives up credits.

I do appreciate all the feedback provided within this post. In order to continue to qualify for the BOGO credit, the Buy Device must remain active with a Device Payment Plan for at least 6 months prior to being paid off. The Get Device must remain active on a Device Payment Plan for the full 24 months in order to receive this credit. AlbertoR_VZW
