How do I set the Navigation app in Car Mode to Google Maps?
I did this on my previous Note 4 and I thought it was an option in the settings, but I don't see it on my current phone (had it replaced recently). It seems the only option is to use HERE from Samsung.
Thanks!

I cleared the data and cache for Car Mode and Maps and disabled Maps (I couldn't disable Car Mode as it was grayed out) then restarted my phone and re-enabled Maps. After doing this the Navigation application option showed up and I'm now able to use Google Maps in car mode. Thanks for all the replies and help.

Hello 6DOF!
I love to customize my phone as well, to ensure maximum convenience and enjoyment. At this time, Car Mode does not offer the option to switch the Navigation app to another application.

Hi Michelle,
Did something change because it worked on my previous Note4 just fine? Is it just not an option now that our phones are on 5.1.1? I upgraded my previous phone to 5.1.1 before exchanging it, and it worked then. However I had set Car Mode to use Google Maps when I initially got the phone (on 5.0.x) and maybe the setting persisted.

I switched mine to Google Maps with no problem. I had a selection of Google Maps, T map, or HERE and I choose Google Maps. Once you get into Car Mode touch the word MORE in the upper right hand corner and choose Settings. Locate Navigation application and touch it. This should show you your choices.

Thanks for the sanity check stargazer72460. This is where I thought it would be, but my phone no longer shows the Locate Navigation application option.
On my phone I have:
Language
Custom wake-up command
My cars
Call rejection message
Edit suggested contacts
Registered places
Parking location
Traffic alerts
Erase Car mode data
Terms of Service
Do you have Locate Navigation application in addition to these?

I am glad you got it fixed. I think it's odd that the person from Verizon Wireless Customer Support told you that it can't be done.
