Using Message + on Samsung Note 4 - multiple notifications

My Note 4 is paired to my Gear 2 Neo.  I am receiving 3 notifications on my Gear for every 1 message I receive on my Note 4.  How can I stop this?

I wouldn't be happy if I was getting 3 notifications on my watch for every 1 message I receive on my phone. I'll be happy to help. What does each notification say on your Gear 2 Neo? When did this start?
