The IMEI tells you much like a vin number for a car. I don't remember offhand how they are read by Samsung phones.  I remember HTC ones due to a faulty second mic which was covered by warranty, but everyone wanted to pinpoint which batches and factories had the faulty mics. I was able to walk into the store and hand pick from a different factory at the store.

You will pay much more if you buy a phone somewhere else, even a refurbished phone.  I know it will  cost more than $99.00 to replace the screen.  If you get the $99.00 phone refurbished that will require you turn your old phone into your insurance company that you have your phone insurance with and if you are going to pursue this issue further and waste your time you will need your old phone in your possession for proof or what ever.  So if you keep that phone they will charge you more than $99.00

Good for you doing your research.  Do hope it helps but very doubtful.

@Japetty; "waste your time"... Wow that post was unhelpful.  I am aware

that I will need the original phone in hand or pictures of it; depends on

what the lawyer says.

I almost paid the $99 for the insurance deductible to have the phone

replaced, but I became (removed) off that Verizon (not Samsung) used fear to

try to lead me into taking the insurance route for something I didn't do.

Verizon told me that if Verizon (not Samsung) were to look at the phone

and they did not find the damage to be a defect, which from what I have

been hearing is 99% of the time, then I would be charged the full price of

the phone and not be eligible for the insurance.  But if I chose the

insurance and paid the $99 deductible I would get a replacement (probably a

refurbished phone).  I can't tell you how much this angered me.

Helpful or not but then you did not come here for help you came here to whine and cry because you have to pay $99.00 for another phone I know I would.  What VZW is saying about customer abuse on the cracked screen is true some people think they can lie about it and no one will find out.  VZW treats everyone the same, but there are those that for one reason or another think they should be treated special.

This phone is large and when it is this large of glass will require special treatment.  I don't have this phone but I have one that is slightly smaller (S4) and I have owned the S3 as well and people have been on these forums with the same problem you are experiencing with your phone.  I have never had any of this experience with my phones but I do give it special care but that does not mean I have not dropped the phone and expected to find the worst when I picked the phone up, I have been lucky.  That is not to say that I may experience the experience you are have now with my phone in the future because of the drop.

Well, everyone has their opinion, don't they?

I came on the forum to relate my experience. If you can't relate, don't

post. The post is not a license to attack people who have legitimate

problems and accuse them of lying.

And you have been relating your experience.  Everyone else is relating their experience back at the way glass fractures are handled by Samsung and VZW and you just can'ton accept it.  I accept the way VZW and Samsung along with other manufacturers and service providers handle glass fractures I may not like it.  I have unlimited data so I pay full price for my phones to keep my unlimited data so if I had to pay $99.00 for another phone it would be much better than paying $700,00+ for a new S4 of coarse as old as the S4 is I would go to swappa.com and pay much less for an S4 or a N3.  I have owned 2-S3's and 1-S4 and so far I have not had an issue with glass fracture.  Next wee the S5 is said to be announced by Samsung and as soon as it is available I will purchase it and sell my S4 on swappa.com. as I have sold 3 other phones.  I don't see anyone here attacking anyone as you stated.  Please don't let your imagination run away with itself because I have never seen this happen on this forum.  facts are facts and your facts are the way you see them and the facts that VZW states are the way they see the facts.
