What are my options given that I am not thrilled about having to purchase a device that I honestly don’t want?

To start right off, I’m not interested in paying full price for any of your current offerings after this fiasco. They are not what I was looking for in a device; I have the phone I wanted.  What are my options going forward? Being asked to basically downgrade at full retail is not acceptable in my opinion. There needs to be some sort of device discount applied to anyone affected by this Note 7 issue to ease the blow of having to deal with having to purchase a device we really don’t want and having to deal with all associated hassles (twice for some, including myself).

Three things that I believe need to be done:

  1. A discounted price option for going to a different phone. (a discounted S7 Edge, the closest device spec and feature-wise, would be bearable until something better comes out)
  2. A clause that will allow us to purchase a Note 8 (or similar device) if / when it available without penalty or additional charges.
  3. Reimbursement of any Note 7 specific accessory regardless of if it’s 3rd party. ( I have over $150 worth of accessories that are basically useless now)

I really look forward to hearing back with a non-canned response.

I could not agree with you more.  This is beyond frustrating.

I simply don't want a lesser phone.  I have no interest in an S7.  If I had wanted one, I would've purchased.  I gave up my previous cherished Note for an upgrade.  I would be content to get it back.  I want/need the stylus and the larger screen. These are two important features for me.  I resent being pushed into paying for a product that I do not like.

Like you, I've invested in aftermarket accessories (like VR, additional charging items, etc.).  These will be useless to me.  I also purchased VR content from the store which I will not be able to use unless I downgrade to an S7 (which I will surely *not* do).

I think your item B is one of the most important parts of your points.  There will eventually be another large phone offering (it's won't be called Note because that brand has been burned for them...literally).  I don't want to be trapped into a subpar phone for two years so I can get something else.  If I am locked into such a contract without upgrade options, rest assured, my new contract will not be with Verizon.

I do not imagine they will be able to provide "non-canned" responses which will satisfy anyone.

jmcotler your post was perfect and I hope you copy and paste it and send it to Samsung!! My son paid the early upgrade penalties to do an early upgrade from his perfectly good galaxy 6 and traded it in. While most guys have a dream car my son had a dream phone and this was it! He also has the replacement phone and is unsure what he is going to do.  If Samsung were smart they should have announced immediately that if we trade in the Note 7 for another Samsung phone we would automatically be eligible to upgrade to whatever Note type phone becomes available (I would think next year) without any early upgrade penalties. This probably would have boosted sales in the galaxy 7 series AND assured sales of the new note eventually. But instead they are losing customers because nothing is being said and customers are losing faith in Samsung and trading in their Note 7 for phones from other manufacturers which is understandable.I am hoping in the coming days we hear some news of what the plan is going to be for those of us so inconvenienced by this.

I could not agree more!  Someone should tell this to Verizon, although it's not their fault.

I waved the flag of defeat and a new S7edge is arriving later today. I didn't want the edge, but feel forced into it since the Note 7 will no longer be supported, the recall invalidates insurance coverage and production of Notes has been halted.

My first samsung phone, the Note 7 and I absolutely loved it, still do love it as it has given me ZERO issues with the exception of recalls.

Very dissapointed that there has not been some sort of plan to get Note users back into the fold once a new Note like device is released in the future.

This still ends up costing me money on a device I don't want, and a used device with possible issues at that. Also, I don't know if I want a Galaxy S8 as it won't have the feature-set that Note series does. I use that feature-set like the stylus ALOT throughout the day. Buying a used phone and hoping for the best is also not an acceptable course of action.

Right there with you Less! Just ordered the 7 edge online. My son felt this his was his best option given the situation. They had the nerve to try and charge me a $20 upgrade fee!!! Are they kidding me??? After I complained they waived it. To those of you reading this, DO NOT PAY THAT FEE! I am shocked given the situation that they would even attempt that!!

So that's it for Note 7? No more fixed ones will be offered?
