That's what I thought.
EIther the the phone isn't entirely compatible or it needs to be reprovisioned for the network.
Contact customer service for correct APN settings.
Note phones have frequently been a problem on foreign networks when used for travel.

So sorry! We always want to provide accurate info. Here is the correct link to place the device Safe Mode http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-121765/ . Test for a couple hours to see if the issue still occurs. Please keep us posted with the results.
